View Full Version : Viktor Sanikidze?

I just saw a clip of Spurs practice today on WOAI showing Brent Barry shooting. Sitting on the sideline bench in shorts and T-Shirt was a player who looked remarkably like Viktor Sanikidze. Did anyone else see that clip?

It may have been someone else, because we really don't see Viktor play here in the states, but the resemblance was strong even with short hair.

Isn't Sanikidze out for the season with an ankle injury?

Maybe he's here seeing the Spurs doctors?

Yes, he has been hurt.

They may show the same clip tonight at 10. It was just a quick view, so maybe so, maybe not. I guess you could ask Johnny L.

Maybe I'm off, then. He had short hair, was somewhat thin. Perhaps he's someone in just for a workout...or a friend of a Spur.

I'll look at it again later and maybe save the screen shot and blow it up. I'm curious who it is as well .. it might be Sanikidze but it didn't quite look like him to me.

No that was someone different, ducks. Alex is black. The guy in the video sitting on the bench appeared taller and he was white.

I couldn't find the video, but you sound like you might be describing a friend of Beno's.

Maybe it was Montecchia; is he still visiting Manu?

When I saw him last week, his hair was long and curly. Unless he recently cut his hair, it probably wasn't him.

No, it wasn't Montecchia

Even when I blew up the picture, I couldn't tell who it was. I'll ask around.

All this reminds me of an old movie "Blow up", dont know if you know it - there is a photographer who accidentally shots a picture of murder and then blows up the picture to find a blurry image of a killer hidden in the background. Ok.. nvermind. Keep up the good work detectives :)

Solid D-- I am pretty sure I saw the guy you are referring to at the game last night. He was sitting in the Spurs box. Are people sure it isn't Viktor? He was the right height, build, and looked the right age. It is sometimes hard to tell when you see someone in person as compared to a picture especially when guys change a lot around that age. Whoever he is-- he was there last night. I thought about yelling "Viktor" as he walked past an area I was in to see if he turned his head, but I didn't!

Good Pop Show question, I guess. Unless Kori can find out through her "sources".

SolidD - you are damn smart with eagle eyes. Props.

In the news video, that didn't look like Sanikidze at all to me.

But tonight outside the locker room, I saw the guy you are talking about for the second time in the last week or so. And I'm 99 percent sure it's him.

I'll find out for sure tomorrow.

I got it Solid D works with an Intelligence Agency, his media analysis skills are unmatched and the result of years of refinement.

Trained to gleam details from Bin laden press releases Solid has found his calling in spotting Spurs draft picks.

So who else they working out??

Blow up is one of my all time favorite movies...

That movie also contains the only footage of Jeff Beck and Jimmy Page together as members of the Yardbirds...

Wow, who could it be?

On Sanikidze BTW, how bad is his ankle injury? I saw some game footage of him from last year and he looked like he has long-term potential.

It is Viktor, and he is rehabbing with the Spurs in San Antonio at their facility.

BTW - Ian still needs alot of work. Needs to put on some bulk.....

Thanks for the update.

I heard from someone recently that he's still at least two years away from playing in the NBA. But that was just hearsay.

Do you know if they have any interested in Sanikidze staying here to play when he gets healthy?

It doesn't look like this year, but that could change given the available roster spots and how well he does with the knee - but when he does, they are looking at him as a 2 or small 3.....

Reports were always about his ankle (I thought) but now I've heard knee a few times. Was he injured twice?

You know, I dont know about an ankle. But he is for 100% sure rehabbing his knee right now.

Thanks.

When I saw him, he looks very thin but he didn't look 6'9 (as listed by some sites). Do you know how tall he actually is?

is this Sanikidze any kind of great shooter?

If so, that would help.

I saw tape of Sanikidze. I think he has the tools but he's so young. I wonder how much of an buyout it would be for him since he plays overseas.

He needs to add bulk. I wonder what's wrong w/ his knee. I hope its not that serious.
