Forward Bosh, guards Rose, Peterson on ballot for 2006 all-star game

November 18, 2005
TORONTO (CP) - Chris Bosh leads three Toronto Raptors on the ballot for the 2006 NBA all-star game despite the team's rocky start to the season.

Bosh, and guards Jalen Rose and Morris Peterson are among the 60 Eastern Conference players listed on the ballot as voting began Friday for the Feb. 19 game in Houston.

Canadians Steve Nash and Jamaal Magloire are also on the ballot, which includes 24 guards, 24 forwards and 12 centres from each conference.

The 120 players on the ballot were selected before the season began by a panel of NBA reporters including Steve Aschburner of the Minneapolis Star Tribune, Ric Bucher of ESPN The Magazine, Ernie Johnson of Turner Spots, Mike Monroe of the San Antonio Express News and Sam Smith of the Chicago Tribune.

Bosh, the third-year forward who played in the rookie-sophomore game last year in Denver as Toronto's lone representative at all-star weekend, was averaging career highs of 18.9 points and 11 rebounds a night heading into Friday's game at Boston. Rose was averaging 12.8 points, while Peterson was scoring 11.6 points a game.

Nash, the Phoenix Suns point guard from Victoria, is a three-time all-star, while Magloire, a Toronto native and forward for the Milwaukee Bucks, led the Eastern Conference in scoring in the 2004 all-star game in Los Angeles.

Fans can vote for their favourite players in NBA arenas, and on NBA.com. The all-star starters will be announced on Feb. 2.
