I like Thomas' game. A player willing to do what it takes to win instead of just being out for himself. He's fairly consistent with his shot from 20 feet on in. Would definitely be a nice complementary big to run with Duncan.

We already have him - his name is Malik Rose. Now would be a great time for a team to snare Thomas though. Normally he'd be an MCX guy, but with how many free agents there are and how little money there is, plus the luxury tax I bet Thomas isn't going to get what he would normally.

Thomas is the better shooter. Start Thomas and continue to bring Rose off the bench. No reason to pass on Thomas just because of Rose.

I like the ability to throw very different matchups at opposing teams. In a perfect world I'd love to get a weakside defender like Clark for the bench, but he's overpriced.

Then get McCarty too. Perhaps 'Bows Willis will return for one more season at the 5.

Thomas>Rose

Kenny has better hops, a quicker first step, has better hands, and is a better passer.

Kenny finished the season with 10 double-doubles in the last 13 games including two 20-rebound efforts.

He's a team-option restricted free agent I believe.

Thomas is likely to stay in the East where he can draw big $$ playing against marginal frontcourts. Like PJ Brown would be, Thomas wasn't anything special in the West.

Isnt he a restricted free agent?

He's a very handy player, but you won't see him a Spurs uni next season

According to Patricia Benders Contracts and Salaries (http://www.dfw.net/~patricia/contracts), Kenny Thomas is not a restricted free agent, and is completing a 4 year rookie contract worth $4.21 million.

I think Philly is enamored with Thomas, but they don't have much if any cap money to splurge or else besides their MLE, and they could risk losing Derrick Coleman and Tyrone Hill if they go that route. Either way, as I said before, I think Thomas will stay in the East where he can cash in.

The current C.B.A. rookie contract is not 4 years, unless the team fails to make him a contract offer for year 5. If you pick up his year 4 option, you AUTOMATICLY have the option to qualify him for year 5 with an offer, and I believe you also get matching rights. That's why Olowokandi did the unexpected and accepted the year 5 qualifying offer from the Clips. He didn't want to be matched on a low offer, and will be an UFA next summer.

Kenny Thomas is OK, but if we are looking at shorter guys to strictly play 4, Kenny doens't even get a thought until I call Brand.
