Your Heat years were better.

Kawhi didn't motivate anyone. He can't even wipe his own ass. I said years ago when Kawhi was up and coming for the Spurs that he doesn't make teammates better. Kawhi is an out of this world level player as far as his ability to effect the game when he's in it, but it's not through motivation of his team. Dude is a zombie.

Total shock. I wanted to be alone then to dwell in the horrible losses and reflect what (the victory) mean't against those catastrophic losses. How vengeance had been achieved not for me, but for Kobe, and Magic, Daddy, Artest, everybody who'd ever been wronged by Media. Relive it all in a terrible rush of emotion and ranting in the house. Tears would come, phone calls to the children. Then of course waking during the night on the old couch secure in the knowledge that it was over. Over-over, and could not be taken from me. Replaying it back in minute detail.

It's like decades of frustration and pain being all of a sudden worth it and making it that much sweeter. Blowing the 3-1 lead to Washington in the 79 ECF, blowing a sure trip to the Finals in 81 losing to the Rockets in 7, Artis Gilmore not even getting the shot of to force Game 7 against the Lakers in the 83 WCF, Johnny Moore's desert fever in 86, Rod Strickland throwing that no look pass right to Jerome Kersey to blow Game 7 of the 1990 series, losing to the 7-seed Warriors in 91 (after Larry King told the world he was picking the Spurs to win the title in an episode of the Simpsons), Olajuwon ripping away what was supposed to be the Spurs title in 95, Karl Malone kicking Tim Duncan and David Robinson in the nuts and getting free throws for the three point play out of it to close Games 1 and 2 in 1998... all of that shit showing how hard it is to win a title, practically flashing before my eyes when with ten seconds or so David Robinson missed a shot off the backboard, barely grabbed the offensive board, and chunked it back out for Avery Johnson to throw up a desperation three to beat the shot clock while taking as much time off the clock as possible, getting the game clock down to 2 seconds with Spurs up 78-77. And it hit me, holy shit, the Spurs are clinching in the next two minutes and that was longest commercial break of my life. Went and grabbed and hugged my closest friend who also lived and died with the team (just lost him to COVID a couple of months ago, RIP) who I was watching the game with once David Robinson and Tim Duncan forced a Sprewell airball at the buzzer. Fans went and shut down IH-37 to party on the highway. Mario Elie went crazy when he saw me wearing his jersey at the parade. The city felt crazy, we had known nothing but playoff frustration and bitter losses and all of a sudden it was our guys making everyone else feel that way.

Hope you get the chance to experience similar in a couple of weeks when hopefully CP3, Monty, Booker, and Ayton are holding up the O'Brien.

I really don't think Chris Paul is going to let you guys lose this one. The gear he kicked it into tonight was legendary. 41 points, 7-8 from the arc, 8 assists, 3 steals, 0 turnovers, and practically stopping that Clippers run by his damn self. I can't lie, I hated the Suns in 07 because that team was fucking good. I know a series can change in a second with injuries, but the Suns are going to be rested, they're going to be healthier, and they've been impressive as hell the entire postseason after a strong season and I don't expect any of that to change in the Finals. Hope you guys get those four; I think you will. Way more complete of a team than anyone in the East.

Damn that's rough to hear, but it's not like tonight is the only team he has carried his team in a huge playoff game hurt. He took out my Spurs in Game 7 of 2015 on one leg with a performance that felt just like Isiah in Game 6 of the 88 Finals. Thought the Spurs had that shit wrapped up when he hurt his knee in the first half only for him to come destroy the Spurs in the second half including the game winner with a second left over Duncan. That shot still pisses me off because Danny Green was all up in his shit and Duncan made a great contest on the double team. :lol

It's pretty cool because I'd thoroughly enjoy any of these teams winning. Even though I hate Hawks playstyle, I actually dig Trae's character on court. Hilariously trollish. Really dope to have a sense of humor and not be a diva dick like most of these faggot athletes.

Bucks deserve a chip and if Giannis attacked the paint he'd literally be a modern day Shaq. I have no clue why he doesn't do it more often. Jrue and Khris are also both likeable #3 guys to the #1 Giannis. And to see a small market team win would make me very happy after all this bullshittery lately with Stars forcing themselves around the league to create unfair tournaments that were luckily evened out by injuries this year.

CP3 should be the clear second best PG in the league history by now but has been fucked many times, Booker and Ayton have shown growth and confidence and Suns are suddenly looking like a scary team for years to come. They are like what the Pacers, Knicks and 76ers should've done/been. Very happy for their fans and everyone involved. If I had to pick one it'd be Suns.

San Diego?! The league needs to consolidate. Not move one 2nd rate franchise to a downgrade location.

How about get rid of Orlando, Sacramento, Charlotte, Utah, Cleveland, Memphis, OKC, and the loser of the NBA Finals.
Place a team back in Seattle. Call it good.

San Diego?! The league needs to consolidate. Not move one 2nd rate franchise to a downgrade location.

How about get rid of Orlando, Sacramento, Charlotte, Utah, Cleveland, Memphis, OKC, and the loser of the NBA Finals.

I'd be ok getting rid of Sacramento, Memphis, Orlando, and OKC, keep Utah and Cleveland, add Seattle, add Pittsburgh

Nothing new here. Even when they were ringing they were right in the middle of earnings to spending. Barely broke even. It's hard to explain their success. They didn't have the benefits of an LA like market.

imo OKC earned the right to a team by hosting the Hornets and showing much love. That's a raucous crowd.

Sounds like they should move to Seattle, tbh. If you can't stay afloat unless you win then it's not gonna work out

Should make more money then, no?

It's like calling Iraq's army the "4th largest". It really really drops off after 3rd.

The numbers are misleading also. DFW and Arlington metroplex has about 7.5 million people. That's the actual market for the Mavericks where as San Antonio has New Braunfels and San Marcos. Austin residents are split 3 ways with NBA teams, that's just the ones who don't leg ride the Lakers, Warriors or, now, the Suns. We know who those people are.

Just happened? The Spurs weren't too far from making the Finals in 2012. 2012 was the run that felt like it came out of nowhere.
Even 2012 wasn’t out of no where. They got upset, but were the 1 seed in ‘11. 13/14 had plenty of build up, arguably the most build up of all the championship teams in the 10s. ‘15 Warriors might be tied, but every other championship team came out of nowhere (Mavs 11, raptors 19) or was a super team that was expected to win a chip right away (bron heat, kd warriors, Lebron second stint w cavs).

Team looked old and washed up in 11, and only got that great record fattening up in the early season while falling apart late. I still think the only team in the West they would have beaten in the first round that year was New Orleans. But Tim lost some weight and Diaw + Leonard + Green added a real shot in the arm to the team, plus they cut the dead weight of Jefferson for Jackson. Felt like a completely new and energized team while the 2011 team felt like a dying power.

Replacing finished McDyess with Splitter as well. Honestly, all the moves the Spurs pulled that started with the Hill for Nephew trade, Green and Splitter getting more playing time, then trading Jefferson for Jax. And then adding Diaw + Mills from the buyout market. Really paid off for them. Too bad PATFO fell off a cliff badly after 2014.

Forgot about that, though Splitter couldnt get any minutes that year if I remember right (or was that 2011?) Had a friend who ended up sitting next to RC at a game one of those years and asked why Splitter wasnt getting minutes and RC just kind of said nothing but gave my friend a look of frustration lol.

Could be on the horizon. Small market and many in SA are transplants who don't actually care about the Spurs.
