He was all excited tonight in his pimped out suit.

Bummer for him.

I was rooting for him to make it but he just isn't an NBA caliber player. He can't finish on the pro level and doesn't get enough lift on his jumpers. Perhaps he can go overseas and work on his offensive game to get it to where he can at least survive on an NBA court.

That's what Bowen did.

Good luck.

Spurs Waived Sanders.

Just didn't think it'd happen or be this soon. He played well in some games. Wish him well.

Not NBA material as TIMVP said.

Not suprising.

Heres hoping Theron Smith has some good games in Florida and the Spurs pick him up.

Despite Melvin's suckage on offense, I'm sure Marcus Cryant will be along to say it's because Holt is cheap :rolleyes

Does this mean they're keeping Scales? I thought the SA Express said they might keep one or both the other night.

This is funny/ironic because during the pregame show they did a story on him and how he was living la "vida Loca".....ouch!

It was a standard 10 day injury contract. No biggie he knew it was a temp job.

It wasn't a 10 day contract. There's no 10 day contracts until January. He was just getting paid on a per game basis until they didn't need him anymore.

how much do u think he made per game Kori?

The league minimum (for players with no NBA experience) is $398,762 per season. Divide that by 82.

TDMVPDPOY

Im sure we will get another thread, lambasting the Spurs for being cheap, and how we are blind homers for thinking otherwise, or we "Have Holt's nuts on our chins"

Can't wait to see how waving a USBL player is going to be "detrimental" to this team.

Yeah, us "pretty boys" only like women.

Though with all your crying I'm beginning to wonder, it seems like you're on the rag 24/7/365.

If only Holt Cat weren't so cheap, maybe we could win a title.

If only we could have kept overpaying Malik Rose and paid 6 million a year for an injured Devin Brown, this team would be in position to make a run at a title.

Instead we're going to waste Tim Duncan's career with nothing to show for it but Holt Cat profits

Let't think about all those posters who argued for signing someone like Sanders--or even Sanders himself.

His release proves some things about Spurs management and coaches:

1. They didn't believe Sanders has NBA skills worthy of a place on the squad.
2. They're willing to spend money to put a warm body on the bench, so if a dire emergency arises, they can put the warm body on the court.
3. In their professional opinion, we don't need just a warm body, and with this deep squad, they haven't found anyone they simply can't live without.

There's a lot I'd be willing to do to switch places with Sanders over the past month.

The experiance should help him find another pro ball job. Maybe Europe where NBA stashes a lot of developing players.

Nah, I haven't been whining about Pop 24/7/365 for the last 5 season as you did.

Spurs Waive Melvin Sanders

The San Antonio Spurs announced that they have waived guard Melvin Sanders.

The 6-5, 210-pound guard was signed by the Spurs on November 9th and played in his first NBA contest that night against the Charlotte Bobcats. Sanders appeared in five games for the Spurs averaging 2.2 points and 2.6 rebounds in 11.6 minutes per contest. He set career highs for minutes (19) and points (6) at Boston on 11/11

Spurs Release Sanders As Finley Returns

The Spurs pared their roster, waiving rookie guard Melvin Sanders after Saturday night's 97-91 victory over Phoenix.

Sanders appeared in five games, averaging 2.2 points in 11.6 minutes. The Spurs signed him Nov.9 after Michael Finley and Brent Barry went down with injuries.

Sanders' defense helped the short-handed Spurs, but it became evident his days were numbered when rookie guard Alex Scales joined the team Thursday.

Yeah Marcus, and I also owned up to it after we won the title.

20 years from now you'll still have your panties in a bunch over Holt Cat being cheap while the rest of us reminisce about the glory days when we won 6-7 titles.

:rolleyes

Sanders waived? There goes the championship. I thought the Spurs had shown that they were not afraid of anybody or anything, not even the salary cap. But now the rest of the NBA knows that the Spurs are afraid, very afraid.

I hope he was not disappointed by the cut. This should have been a learning experience for him and hopefully he will work on his game and make a stronger presence on his next stint. Good luck to you Melvin......
