Nike plane circling Portland with nose gear problem
Mon Nov 21, 2005 1:29 PM ET
PORTLAND (Reuters) - A Nike Inc. corporate jet with faulty landing gear was circling over Portland to burn off fuel before attempting a landing, aviation officials said on Monday.
Nike Chief Executive William Perez was not on the flight, according to local television reports. Nike officials were not immediately available for comment.
Seven passengers were reported to be on board.
"They may try to go to Hillsboro airport to try and jar down the landing gear," said Allen Kenitzer, a spokesman with the Federal Aviation Administration. Hillsboro is near Beaverton, Oregon, a Portland suburb where Nike is headquartered.
"They have not decided where it will land," Kenitzer said.
