Saw the movie and thought it was pretty good. Don’t know why I put off trying the tv series but just finished the first season. It’s better than I was expecting. A little ridiculous at times when they do shit like skydive or surf. But really pretty enjoyable. So far, really not a dull moment.

7.5/10

Because it’s from TNT? They make some very dull shit.

I'm caught up with the new season. This isn't dull at all. It's every bit as entertaining as Ozark.

That's very fair. TNT's highest rated program is neck-beard-fan wrestling. Literally. Almost zero females in the audience at their shows.

It’s like they research the CBS lineup and think “how do we make this even crappier?”

Last season. I don't know if anyone still watches but it's good mindless television. The action scenes are overdone for sure...it's like an ongoing Point Break from that standpoint. And unrealistic that somehow this group of dumbass brothers has the capability to pull off any heist in the world and understands explosives, grappling hooks, etc. But there's a good family story in there. And a handful of good actors. And it's interesting to see the backstory with different actors.

Is this similar to the 2010 or so USA shows like White Collar/Burn Notice?

No idea. I saw the original Animal Kingdom movie (Australian) years ago so I started the series just to see how the series compared. And got hooked enough to keep up with it. I had to look at USA series to see what I've watched and it's been Mr. Robot and Suits. I liked both but never finished them. I see that Monk is rated as their #1 all time series. I'm thinking about starting it. IIRC, it always seemed to win Emmys.

Ahh ok, just figured it might be. Each of the leads were specialists who knew a profession inside and out, thought it might be the same with the brothers heist abilities

hmmm...not really. They did a pretty good job of keeping the characters true to the original move. The big difference is that in the movie, they don't do any heists because they are already being heavily investigated. To keep the series going, they are doing a bunch of heists. And those are probably the dumbest parts of the show. As I said, every heist is like Point Break. Motorcycles, boat chases, etc. But the family problems (and a few good actors) is what kept me locked in. Shawn Hotosey (was in Bosch) does a great job. Don't get me wrong...it's not must see. But it's entertaining if you can get past the improbable stuff.
