Whelp, looks like we'll actually have a preseason this year. I won't be posting in the regular season this year due to losing a bet with BD24 that I won't welch on. But this should be interesting... When will Aaron Rodgers be traded, tbh?

Darth_Pelican Chinook spurraider21 Mark Celibate It's going to be on you guys to keep the NFL forum alive and healthy and beating during this year's regular season, tbh. Y'all have to make the game threads this year. For the first time since the 2014 season, I won't be posting in the NFL forum during the regular season. #TimeForAChange

LOL. He was my only decent keeper in a fantasy league. Was only going to cost me a 7th round pick.

I have Darrell Henderson in my dynasty league with my buddies lol. So worked out pretty nicely on my end. Definitely feel bad for the dude though, so young and to have that happen. Especially since most running backs don’t get a 2nd contract really

It does suck for him. I can't think of many athletes that came back from an Achilles tear. And none are RBs.

Yeah, Kobe was never the same, except for maybe his last ever game in the NBA. At first when you said RBs I thought Adrian Peterson, but that was his ACL and MCL tearing not Achilles.

at least they still have the other two right? I don't think who plays RB matters for the Rams so much as long as the guys inside can block and they can plug and play whoever to set up the RPO and play action for Stafford. The Rams should absolutely be a pass first team with Stafford, but having guys who can gain yards on draw and inside zone type plays will also go a long way. Very tough division the Rams play in, likely the best in the NFL with the return of the 49ers.

I’m a big fields fan and think he is legit.

was pissed off to see him slip and y’all trade up like that. I’m conflicted now, I want the guy to do well, but also…fuck the bears. More than likely year 1 is a bit rough (rough still being better than the pile of garbage that was the bears qb situation last year), I imagine year 2 he takes a big step forward though.

Ya never know with rookie QBs though. Dak Prescott even in spite of a bad defense and a below average coach and megalomaniac owner, went 13-3 as a rookie. Have the Bears shored up their O-line problems? That is the question. They have more than enough talent on offense at the skill positions but as bad as Trubisky has been, the offensive line has been at least as much if not more to blame for the Bears' dismal offenses for the foreseeable past. That is why Foles didn't work (he needs great pass protection like what the Eagles had to perform well, since he is a multi-read pocket passing statue) and also partially to blame for Trubisky developing bad habits early in his career like flushing out from the pocket too quicky instead of going through reads and progressions and finding the right read, the right holes in the zones, etc.

Haven't looked at a box score. For all I know, that could've been his first series.

I don't put too much stock into preseason. Otherwise that thirty point butt whooping the Vikes took from the Broncos is really bad.

17.5M/year, that's actually a bargain, people were saying he was going to make 20M+ per year, there were reports he wanted 25M per year. Good for Seattle. He's a terrible cover guy but he's the best pass rushing safety / box safety in the league.

yeah, he is way too blitz happy off schedule. he's a great run stopper and an all time great blitzer from his position, but he's not disciplined like Kam Chancellor was. Not only is he not particularly great when he does decide to actually cover... well he is good at making the quick tackle after giving up the catch to his man, but that's about it. The main problem with him in the Seattle D is he pretty much blitzes whenever he feels like it, which often times leaves open wide open holes in the zone defense that wouldn't be there if he did what he was supposed to do which is drop into coverage and fill a zone. Which leaves the rest of the secondary vulnerable for YAC as well.

Nah. Jimmy G will start until he starts throwing picks or otherwise stagnates the offense. If it's 2019 business as usual he won't get benched.

Bears are dumb, but maybe smart because they're probably going to get blown out on the road anyway considering week 1 is AT THE RAMS. Feed Andy Dalton to the wolves (Aaron Donald, Ramsey, etc) to build a scapegoat and a quick excuse for replacing him with Fields in week 2.

Lawrence over Minshew is a no brainer. Minshew isn't a starting caliber NFL QB. Backup-quality, yes, but only for a short and finite amount of weeks.

Bridgewater is better than Lock, but he's still a bus driver at best...the Broncos won't be better than the Panthers last year, and in the AFC West that means last in the division and a solidly losing record.

keeper advice for my friends home league

12 person league, 0.5 ppr, 2WR 2RB 1 Flex league

i get to keep one of:

Diontae Johnson (will cost me a 7th round pick)
Myles Gaskin (will cost me a 10th)

i value Diontae more (though not as much as if it were full PPR)... but the round differential is what's making it a tough call. feel like i can get a legit starting caliber player in round 7, not so much round 10

I’d still keep Johnson personally. Think he is going in the 4th or 5th round most drafts. Miami backfield is shaping up to be a rbbc. I don’t think gaskin will get enough work to be a weekly starter. Johnson on the other hand you can confidently start as a flex or wr2 week to week. Essentially I just don’t think you will be able to confidently start gaskin week to week.

i definitely like johnson more, as i said. but its the opportunity cost as well (7th rounder in a home league can get you a good player, 10th round not so much). im not crazy high on gaskin (dont like him at his ADP), but even in a committee approach he's going to get most of the receiving work which is what ends up counting.

other reason that has me leaning gaskin is the roster format. 2WR, 2RB, 1 Flex is more RB favorable than other formats like 3WR or 2 Flex

I’m not sure gaskin will get most of the passing down work. Malcolm brown is a really good pass blocker. And I was looking at the list of players in the 7th and no one to get overly excited about imo. I suppose do you have more keepers? Or just the 1? That’s a factor as well. Like if you already have a stud wr and are weak at rb that’s a factor as well

every since the dolphins avoided drafting a back or signing a notable one, i felt mostly good about Gaskin given the price tag... but that first preseason game got my really nervous, though he really stood out in the 2nd. that still makes me feel like it could be a hot hand situation, even though all the dolphins beat guys have routinely said Gaskin stands out.

I understand in theory. My issue is most the bottom of the roster guys won't make the roster/see the field. And guys that will fill in are forced to showcase outside the roles they might fill. On offense you could just play some of the 1st team and showcase guys on the roster bubble. If the unit is being bulldozed by opponents 1st team then what sort of barometer is that beyond "He doesn't quit and fights".

Would be interesting to see how Raiders have performed in relation to the spread the first few weeks of the season, under him.

The other day I finally discussed some NFL with 49er fans. I downplayed how good we are but in comparison to the SB team, I think we are solidly better on paper. Except for the secondary and possibly linebacker. Every other unit is better and deeper. Defensive line might take a little bit into the season until Bosa is back in rhythm.
