John (El Segundo): David, do you think the Lakers will shake up the roster this summer regardless how far they go in the playoffs? Can they get Payton and Howard this summer? Thank you!
David Aldridge: Yes, I do think you'll see changes. Jerry Buss has told Mitch Kupchak he's willing to pay luxury tax to keep this thing going, so the Lakers will be able to use their full $4.5 million exception to entice someone to come out there. Payton is a possibility, I suppose, but they may want to go a little younger.

Of course he willing to risk paying the luxary tax, the NBA keeps putting it off anyway. Could it be that Buss is finally calling in the NBA front office's bluff?

Fellas, Buss is and will be over the tax threshold even if he signed only minimum salary players this summer.

It's not a question of whether he'll pay, only how much.

^^^^EXACTLY. Fucking Shaq and Kobe alone make the cap figure. How is he NOT going to pay the tax and fill out 10 more players on a roster? This is ludicrous.
