Solid pickup for the Jazz imo. Considering he’ll be a bench big for them. Part of Rudy’s problem (aside from shot selection and turnovers) was the Spurs asking him to be our best or second best player on so many nights. Think he’ll be much better in this role.

Wish him all the best tbh. He came and played hard for us and never complained. And is a good dude off the court. Best of luck to him.

Rudy was a great Spur, at least by the shitty post-Big Three standards. He was way more effective defensively than most fans are arguing. It's not his specialty, especially one-on-one. But he'll fit in fine with their scheme. Happy for him, and happy for Samanic and KBD.

Rudy Gay was mostly a net positive for the Spurs in the years he played for us. 538's RAPTOR & ESPN's RPM ranked him consistently among the best Spurs players on both defense and offense in the limited minutes he played. He is a net good get for the Jazz who are already a good three point shooting team and Rudy will be a nice addition to their bench and could play PF in a pinch for them with the other Rudy helping out ease his lack of lateral footwork.

Great team defender. His lack of foot speed hurts him on the perimeter in certain matchups but he's good everywhere else defensively. He's long and tough so he can survive on the inside and his rotations were reliable.

Has surprisingly good court vision offensively. Doesn't always make the pass but he sees the court well :lol

Should be a good fit on the Jazz. He's a plus overall on defense. Offensively, he's a tough-bucket getter, which will be helpful in the postseason. Should form an explosive bench unit next to Clarkson.

Rudy still performed well last year even though the rest of the bench was bad, especially after the All-Star break. Post-All-Star break Patty might have been the worst player in the league. Eubanks and Walker were inconsistent. Vassell slammed face-first into the rookie wall. There was also that stretch at the end of the season where the entire team would choke in the fourth except for Rudy. Ah, ugly times -- but not his fault.

Smart signing by the Jazz, tbh.

For $12MM for two seasons he was probably better than a couple of our recent signings, but oh well, definitely time to turn the page. Another one of my favorite recent Spurs.

He's never been able to compete deep into the playoffs in his career, so perhaps he'll get that chance in Utah. Good for him.
