Why would you want a choke artist, mental head case who can't shoot a 3, can't make FTs and who totally collapsed in the playoffs who makes $40 million per? Didn't you learn your lesson the last time you traded for a superstar who couldn't shoot a 3, got benched by his team in the playoffs and is a mentally soft?
Why would you want to trade for a guy not known as a hard worker, aloof and hasn't worked on his shot? He owns a $18 million mansion in LA. What happened the last time you had a superstar who owned a mansion in SoCal?
He likes the California lifestyle and dates celebrity women.
Is there a chance he doesn't want to come to SA, would be miserable, not really like playing for Pop and force his way out in a year or two?
I just see a disastrous train wreck happening if he is traded to SA.

Simmons doesn’t want to play 4.
I’m sick of all these threads about this useless diva, I surely don’t want him in SA. Just keep our young core and see what they have in them.

Why do we need another Simmons thread? You can’t put your trade idea in the legit thread with the rest of the trade ideas?

Poeltl has no business ever being on the floor with Simmons and Keldon. like ever. You basically cede three non-shooters to their defensive game plan. that's losing basketball all day, every day.

He doesn't want to play "here."
I would offer Bryn Forbes and a large Whopper with fries from Burger King.
If they didn't like it, I'd tell them to go pound sand.
In other words, I wouldn't give up anything of value on this team for Ben Simmons.

Ehh, I'd make it a medium sized Whopper, tbh. Don't want him getting too accustomed to the big portions SA is famous for :lol

If the reports are true that he’s willing to sit out training camp to force a trade then he doesn’t have the character to be a Spur so I wouldn’t trade anyone especially not Murray.

If he doesn’t sit out, there is no urgency to trade him. It’s an incentive to get this done, and he’s been pretty up front about it. No secret behind doors bullshit. I mean Doc threw him under the bus in the post game presser. I’d be done with them, too.

I'd prefer to trade Murray but i don't see it happening, somehow I think the team values him more than White. That said...
White/Walker/Young and future 1st would be my best offer

Simmons
- Diva
- Can't shoot mid range 2s, 3s, FT
- Excellent defender
- Poor to average work ethic
Nephew
- Diva
- Can shoot mid range 2s, 3s, FT
- Average to above average defender due to increase offensive workload
- Excellent work ethic
- Injury risk
Derozan
- Not a Diva
- Can't shoot 3s. Can shoot 2s, FT
- Below average defender
- Excellent work ethic
Not worth trading unless you can fix Simmon's basketball shooting and psychological issues.

The blame falls squarely on Simmons and his inability to take shots. If you can’t understand a little frustration from coach and teammates who put in a lot of work only to watch their “star” player avoid layups then you can’t be trusted. Further, he compounds the issue by demanding a trade and like a child, won’t show up to his million dollar job to play basketball. As I said, if reports are true, I want no part of him and these issues will resurface in other ways based on this behavior.

I'd rather just watch the Spurs lose a bunch, play their young guys lots of minutes, and let a class act like Thaddeus hang around & play before the trade deadline.

Posted this in the other thread, but :
Spurs Get:
Ben Simmons
Dario Saric
Philly Gets:
Murray
Walker
Jalen Smith
2022 Spurs Unprotected 1st
2025 Bulls protected 1st
2024 Phoenix 1st (lottery protected)
Phoenix Gets:
Thad Young
Post trade rotation:
White, Vassell, Johnson, Simmons, Poeltl
Jones, Forbes, McDermott, Samanic, Eubanks
Bench isn't great and the Spurs would suddenly be very thin on the perimeter. However, if the Spurs are deadest on acquiring Simmons, then that's a decent trade that really only costs the Spurs one of their own firsts.

Ben Simmons is the type of player that can help a conference finals team that already has two reliable stars get to the Finals.

I’ve read hypothetical trade that would send to the Nets Doug McDermott, Josh Richardson and Zach Collins, with San Antonio getting Ben Simmons. What do you all think?
Tre is the only true PG that Spurs have, and lately bigger PG’s have been overpowering him, Murray, Wall. Enter Ben Simmons. Simmons, Vassell, Keldon, Sochan, Poeltl. Now that line-up can defend and switch on anybody in the league. Ben is only 26 and could still be a part of the young development. I wouldn’t mind this trade if Nets are taking our vets.

Yeah, we'd be an incredible 3-point shooting team with Sochan, Simmons and Poeltl in the same line up :lol
Taking on that Simmons contract is worth 2 first round picks alone. Spurs would have to get 3-4 unprotected picks at least for that trade.

I know Tre has improved on the 3pt, but it’s not like he’s taking 5-8 shots per game. And this will be a running game with still Vassell and Keldon spreading. I don’t know where it’s coming from but it’s all-over social media. I wouldn’t be against it tbh

The Nets owe their 2024 and 2026 firsts to Houston, along with Houston having swap rights with them in 2025 and 2027.
About the best the Nets could offer the Spurs, in terms of draft capital, is an unprotected first in either 2028 or 2029 and an unprotected swap in the other year.

That was before Primo started exposing his private part, and now Spurs are without their future “franchise” point guard. I think it is wise to revisit while things are not working out in Nets.

You'd have more chances of rehabbing an NBA player with an amputated leg than you do of fixing Ben Simmons' brain. Pass as in I'd rather have monkeypox.
