I think we’ll see several lineup combinations. I would love for Samanic to start at 4 over McDermont, but Pop like his shooters.

Just the same, it would be fun to see high pace basketball, rimrun, transition offense reminiscent of the early DRob days, with motion offense, plenty of passes similar to beautiful game. I expect this team would be better defensively with the substraction of Demar, Gay and Aldridge.

Poeltl needs to start abusing the rim and put them hard.

The tentative lineup has 3 defenders in DJ, White, and Poeltl, and two good floor spacers in White and McD. There are also two creators in DJ and White.

Unless we have a disastrous run of injuries, there’s no real way to win only 15 games. The Spurs will be trying, and there will be the usual 8-10 teams tanking by the ASG.

I read a player really impressed especially with Devin’s improvement. He has a chip with Halliburton getting drafted immediately after him. I think we’ll see him really getting aggressive. He’s another player who can create and can really score in different ways. I think he’ll surprise a lot of people. Let’s go Devin!

Devin was playing very well last year when he simultaneously hit the rookie wall, and caught COVID19. My prediction is that Lonnie will not get an extension, will get an offer, and will move on next summer, and Devin moves up the totem pole. He was shooting 40% from long, and playing high level defense when the wheels fell off with COVID19. He’s another potential really good two way player.

To add others, have heard nothing whatsoever about Luka’s minutes, which isn’t surprising. He’s healthy at least which is great to see him get a shot, no excuses now.

Devin’s midrange shot is apparently money, and he’s looking for an increased role. His conditioning wasn’t good for summer league so it’s encouraging that he’s ready this time.

Primo has said he’ll do whatever coach says will help make him better including the Gleague, but as of now he’s still competing for minutes.

It's no longer secure (Pop confirmed, at least initially, that Forbes will come off the bench) - so, unless Pop starts going on his vet-loving-bullshit (a real possibility, I know), I'll see it as an absolute failure of Lonnie, Vassell, et al, to step up and assert themselves.

It's a sink or swim season - for everyone, IMO. No safe seats.

Sheeesh, Primo got some moves on him. The naturality he plays with on the court is eye-popping, that flinging pass he made so casually wouldn't occur to most players his age. Quick decision-making is always a great sign. I think he's still headed to the G-L, at least half a season, but showing he can contribute early on is a great sign and will hasten his time there.

Luka not getting playing time is not good, and worrysome. If he's put on the garbage time squad on a preseason game, well... Not the best of looks for his upcoming season. But oh well, if the price to pay for a Spurs 20+pt lead is Luka riding the bench, I'll just hope he gets a cushioned seat :lol

I don't see Primo in the G-L. What does he have to work on down there? Handles, yep, definitely. Offensive and defensive sets and rotations? He can do that in the main. He's surprisingly tall and big for what you'd think, so he doesn't necessarily need to put weight or strength on to get time. He alreadys is a remorsely shooter and driver and the bench needs that.

Yeah Luka at this point just needs to be force fed minutes. He always comes into the game playing like he doesn't know what to do or where to be...cause he doesn't have a defined role for what to do and where to be.

We should all be rooting for him. He has the profile of the hardest type of player to guard in the nba, the 6 "10" fluid athlete who you can't really challenge his perimeter game to much cause of his size. I wish in at least the preseason pop plays him like he played primo tonight where he was sort of the "featured" player where it didn't matter what the line up was when they ran something out a set and primo was on the floor he was the "point guard". Luka needs to be the guy setting the screens, looking for mismatches, driving to the lane, trying to run some offense through him out the post. If he can be at least a serviceable backup this year then this spurs team can be surprisingly good.
