View Full Version : Crackers are incredibly underrated

I never think about buying crackers but a couple of weeks ago, I had some Ritz and they were fucking awesome. So I made a point to go down the cracker aisle and get some at the store. I also bought some Triscuits which I hadn't had in forever. It was a refreshing as opposed to buying some jacked up chips covered in flavor powder. Both the Ritz and Triscuits were great with hot sauce, salsa, and hummus.

I also find it weird that chips and crackers are almost always in different aisles. And often several aisles away from each other.

Agreed. Good plain, also good with stuff on them.

And getting better lately with more variety; especially Triscuits.

My favorite plan chip would be old school Doritos. But I don't know if they even make them anymore. And I don't know if you can find any unflavored tortilla chip in a small bag anymore. Everything is fucking coated in powder. Which I like but I think I'm just burned out on it all. And that powder can't be good for you. Just give me a plain cracker and some salsa (or Frank's).

Just plain lays = potato, salt, oil

I do remember the yellow plain Doritos. Those were good

Yeah...I like that they don't go crazy with the flavoring. I'm going to start working my way through their flavors. I think I've only had regular, cracked pepper, and the rosemary one (which I didn't really like). But looks like they have a good selection.

Classic
Original
Cracked Pepper & Olive Oil
Reduced Fat
Hint of Salt
Rosemary & Olive Oil
Dill, Sea Salt, & Olive Oil
Roasted Garlic
Fire Roasted Tomato & Olive Oil
Garden Herb
Rye with Caraway Seeds
Thin Crisps
Original
Parmesan Garlic
Sour Cream & Chive
Wasabi & Soy Sauce
Cinnamon Sugar
Brown Rice
Sweet Potato & Sea Salt
Roasted Sweet Onion
Sea Salt & Black Pepper
Tomato & Sweet Basil
Roasted Red Pepper

I also like Wheat Thins but they're really too small to dip in stuff.

One of the biggest travesties of my life was my parents not buying Doritos because I had braces and the ortho said not to eat tortilla chips. Seems like total bullshit.
But anytime I was at a friends house that had regular Doritos, I'd pig out on them.

Never knew OP is British

I enjoy crab, salami or cheese on a cracker. But 9/10 the flavored crackers are just cheesy.

I didn't even think about them. But they may be the most underrated of all. It sounds terrible but Saltines dipped in Pace hot sauce is surprisingly good.
It doesn't get much cheaper than that.

These are really good as well. At Costco, you can get a big ass bag for pretty cheap. Good by themselves or in dips.

In terms of crackers la comida... My go-to is PREMIUM Saltines with my special mediterranean falafel dip.

Basically I mix HEB roasted red pepper hummus with HEB cottage cheese (large curd), HEB sour cream, a LOT of cumin, coriander, garlic powder, onion powder, sesame seed oil, tahini, parsley flakes, salt and pepper, and hot chili sauce.

I think it was pretty much just mine. That's why I think it was bullshit. I suppose anything crunchy with corners could dislodge a bracket but he went overboard.

Not a huge pretzel fan but I do like to put Snyder's pretzel pieces (jalepeno or honey mustard) on salads.

Ritz + Nutella is quite good.

Ritz on its own is good. I think they even have a reduced sodium version which is nice.

but i cant get behind plain lays potato chips, man :lol. sour cream and onion pls. and when it comes to doritos, salsa verde is unbeatable.

If you can get past that first hint of (shit) it is a delicious spread.

I like Ritz, but I got a sleeve of hard ones/not stale, just ridgid yesterday and now I'm jaded and afraid to try the next sleeve in the box.

Has anyone ever had (Krispy) brand crackers? They won't sell 'em in this state/Arizona, but I'd love to try them. I saw 'em stocked in the movie -The Birds- in that general store where she rents the boat.

And have seen them featured in other movies.

As far as chips go, Lays flaming hot dill pickle are goat. I always keep a bag of plain tortilla around. I make a lot of different kinds of queso with various ingredients depending on my mood. And of course, you can never go wrong dipping them in Herdez Guacamole Salsa. It's the best store bought condiment in history imo

Try that with the Best Maid Pickle Beer. That shit is addictive.

It's expensive AF but it sure tastes a lot better than peanut butter.

Only thing that is absolutely disgusting is when people try and mix Nutella with bananas. Ewwwwwww

Solo ritz is decent.

Sour cream and onion...delish.

For the Tejanos that eat barbacoa tacos on the regular, throw some S+C Lays with your onions, tomatoes and avacado. Trust me.

When I'm out of everything else and it's too late to buy beer, I'll drink one or two.

Man...if I ever went to a restaurant with my parents as a little kid, I'd always eat the crackers that were in the little dispenser thing.
Most of the time, it was a two-pack of Saltines. But whenever they had the Captain's Wafers available, those were the first to go.
