Yeah, I don't even think it was Westbrook. GSW were getting to balls because they were faster and not ancient. Their offense was moving the ball and Lakers were making bad decisions.

Also Davis is soft as fuck. I forgot he was there for much of the end of the game.

Them going winless in the preseason has to be a huge red flag. Same shit happened in 2012-13. Gotta wonder if this will be a repeat of that year but with LeBron killing himself to get them to the playoffs like Kobe had to that year. Not like they're going to get anything for Westbrook when they decide to dump him.

Last year there was like six weeks between the end of the previous season and the new one. Plus the championship was determined as much by injuries than anything. Losing the preseason certainly doesn't mean anything exactly, but there does seem to be a correlation between zilching out and not doing well during the season, by some commentators who seem to have crunched the data.

There is no way the Lakers can lose to the Spurs. The Lakers were odds on favourites to win the west (I didn't necessarily agree) , and the Spurs were slated to win 25 games for the entire season. Anything less than a 45 drubbing would be a win for the Spurs.

That's Lebron. he put this team together. That's why Jerry Krause should be considered as one of the top 5 greatest GM's of all time because he didn't let Jordan build his own team as he wanted to. Jordan was against the Oakley for Cartwright trade, but it led to 3 straight titles. Jordan wanted his college buddy Joe Wolf instead of Pippen or Grant, but Krause said "fuck that" and chose the unknown Arkansas native and Grant. Jordan wanted to keep Armstrong in the expansion draft but Phil and Krause didn't protect him because they knew Harper was the better, longer, taller defender and along with Pippen and Rodman, this gave the OLDER Jordan a chance to completely rest on defense and guard 3rd or 4th options. ESPN will never tell you any of this. It's just JORDAN JORDAN JORDAN!!!

Because they were selling your shit, amb. (We) (all) thought, some/me for instance feared you'd won "the last game"...when they commence to selling your shit/broad daylight that is a clear indicator.

Is it worse than if they don't sell your shit? Absolutely. They were selling your shit outright. You not only didn't win the last game you played, but they were selling your shit.

Don't blame me. I've never had my shit for sell and sold said shit and then had to renege on the sale. My shit has always been sold and stayed sold.

notice the 4years tank lottery picks under kobe...none are still on the team...

so after the lebron circus is over...how many years they going to tank again

Depends on how soon they can steal another superstar. Usually the Lakers go 4-5 years after they lose a superstar before they steal another one. After losing Magic in '91 they got Shaq in '96. After losing Kobe to an Achilles tear in '13 they got Lebron in '18.

Does anybody here still have emotional ties or active interest in their NBA teams?

I haven’t given a shit in years, completely apathetic to the recent Lakers title too.

There’s no juice in the regular season whatsoever, so by the time the playoffs roll around nobody cares because there’s no vested interest. I don’t even care about the style of play as much as 90s apologists do. The fact is no stars play more than 50-60 games, so on any given night you are likely witnessing a sub-standard product.

It’s garbage and the ratings reflect it

Respectfully disagree, biased as my lens may be. When Stewart got up and got in LeBron’s face, I think he was somewhat in self check and just talking. People got between them pretty quick. Then I have a feeling LeBron said something that set him off. Could have been something as simple as, “you ain’t gon do shit.” Stewart bulled through multiple guys like tackling dummies to try to get to LeBron like 3-4 different times. He wasn’t getting held down by guys and pretending to try to fight to get free. He actually broke free and ran full tilt towards him, and guys had to tackle him. Like 5+ guys, not just one or two guys. Did not feel fake tough guy at all. But obviously, that’s coming from me as a Pistons fan.

I’ll say this. In his short one season plus NBA career, Stewart has been in several scuffles and physical confrontations, including Joel Embiid and former teammate with no love loss Blake Griffin, among others. Don’t believe it’s an act at all with Stewart. He’ll dance.

Don’t think it was fake tough. I think he was not happy with the apology he got from Bron and as the blood continued to flow it started to boil. He absolutely wanted Bron and absolutely wanted to do Bron harm and I seriously doubt Bron has really ever had to defend himself with his hands. That being said the unitentional elbow (Bron has no history of being dirty) drew a lot of blood, imagine if Bron had bad intentions? LeBron probably can’t fight but as a physical specimen I don’t think Stewart beats his ass easy like many have implied on Twitter

LeBron wanted nothing to do with Stewart. He was well off in the background and made no effort to go back at Stewart. There was certainly a look of concern on LeBron's face that suggested "this dude ain't right. i think he wants to come at me for real."

Has anyone said that LeBron actually apologized in their exchange? Anyone really report an actual apology? That’s a jump in assumption. And something like “I didn’t mean that shit, calm your ass down” is not an apology imo.

The two are actually pretty much the same size. Stewart listed at 6’8, 250, and he fills out every pound. If he had gotten his hands on LeBron, I do think he would have done some damage. And not because he’s stronger or a better fighter or LeBron can’t fight or was scared. It’s because there was a significant adrenaline difference. Stewart was on some pure rage. LeBron was not in the mindset to fight. That doesn’t mean he was scared or incapable of defending himself. It means one guy is crazy and the other isn’t. That’s why I think it could have been pretty bad. But, enough people were there trying to stop it before it went too far even if Isaiah got a hold of him for an instant. Maybe a couple swings or a 5 second choke out.

he clearly was trying to get stewart off of him and swung his arm, which happens pretty much every time there is a boxout situation where someone feels the contact got excessive. doesnt mean he tried to hit his face and bloody him. seemed more like a "get off me" type reaction and unfortunately caught his face

bron should definitely be suspended. its hard to see that result being remotely intentional, but idk

as for stewarts reaction, i wasnt meaning he himself is a fake tough guy, i simply meant he continued the "fake tough guy" trend of not doing jack until 15 guys are between the two players at odds with each other

There’s a distinction between intending the swing/punch and intending the result. There’s no doubt that LeBron intended the swing/punch. He likely didn’t intend to crack his eye open, but the swing/punch was still intentional. I can trip my brother as a practical joke to humiliate him. It’s intentional. When he falls on his face and breaks his nose, I didn’t intend for that to happen. The trip is still intentional.

As I indicated above, when Stewart got up, I don’t believe he was about to throw hands at LeBron. Once he got in LeBron’s face, people were already separating them and getting in between. And then something was either said or done that set Stewart off. That’s not a tough guy act to me. Something simply triggered him at some point.

Exactly

As for Jam I agree wholeheartedly that rage can be an advantage but disagree it would take much for Bron or anyone adrenaline to match it. All humans have fight or flight in their DNA and I’m pretty sure as a near Billionaire Bron would have preferred flight but if cornered by that dude in rage pretty sure adrenaline would not have been lacking. My understanding is Stewart has been trained as a boxer in his past life so my money on him … except he cuts easy so if it’ goes to the scorecards I’ll take Bron he has the Vegas judges on lock. To win Stewart gotta get a knockout early …

Can be noted that Stewart was giving a far above average shove on LeBron and with his tweaked ankle wonder if that inspired a jerk reaction.

Regardless, this is on Lebron 95%. Stern Jr per the par gives 1 to the pet instigator and 2 to the attacked.

I’ve read reports of LeBron trying to get Stewart’s number AFTER the game to apologize. I haven’t heard or read any reports that in the moment LeBron was trying to apologize when Stewart went crazy. That’s what I suggested was jumping to a conclusion. The closest thing I’ve read was a tweet by some guy laughing at the Lakers broadcast saying “LeBron draws blood on Isaiah Stewart, and checks on him to apologize... yada yada yada... and Stewart goes crazy.” That’s not a report. That’s a TV broadcast guy guessing what was being said and done.

What was said in the heat of that instance is what I’m wondering about. LeBron didn’t appear angry or upset, but I wouldn’t say his body language was exactly apologetic either. It would be nice to know what was said right as the two were face to face and right before Stewart went crazy. I can’t say with any certainty that LeBron was not apologizing. I just don’t think you can likewise assume he was. Because something definitely set Stewart off.

I don’t know a lot about Isaiah Stewart the person. I do watch most Pistons games. I know him as a basketball player. He doesn’t take shit from other players. He won’t be punked. And he won’t back down. That’s from watching him for some 80+ NBA regular season games. He hasn’t thrown any punches or gotten in any actual fights in an NBA game. But he’s often in the middle of physical confrontations and scuffles with other big guys. And he’s not looking for people to hold him back. That wasn’t a tough guy act last night. He was bulldozing tackles from his own teammates, coaches, and staff to get back at LeBron. That wasn’t some let me act tough and I hope someone stops me right before I get there. I’d like to hear LeBron or Stewart actually confirm what was said between them before Stewart snapped. Anyone guessing what LeBron said or was going to say doesn’t provide context. It’s as much conjecture as what any one of us could suggest what happened. I don’t want to hear Anthony Davis say LeBron was moving towards him to say sorry. That’s also assuming. I want to hear LeBron say, “I said sorry.” Or Stewart say, “he apologized, and I didn’t care.” Short of that, still conjecture.

And again, shit like:

“Damn, bro, my bad. But you shouldn’t have dug your elbow into me. That’s what you get.”

“Chill the fuck out. Damn, sorry, ok.”

“You’re acting like a bitch, but I apologize.”

Those types of “apologies” can still set a person off. And I’m not suggesting that’s what LeBron did or say. I don’t know what was said. But my point is that someone can technically “apologize” and still frame in it a way that angers the other guy. Broussard or McMenamin or Wilbon can say LeBron apologized all they want. LeBron has to confirm it. Stewart has to confirm it. Anyone in the media especially saying it isn’t enough.

Of course it’s conjecture or at least hearsay if not from the two players involved. However I think if you are being realistic the ref, game mics, people in front row and other players and coaches are reliable witness to an apology or at least can be. Seems like a direct statement from the guilty parties is not unreasonable but a pretty high bar in this case, where all we are arguing is if we think it was intentional, if Bron was apologetic and if it was sincere. At the end of the day we can only make judgments on what we have.
I think he was apologetic In moment based on what I saw (and was told) I do not know how sincere it was … and even if Bron or Stewart shares what was said it still won’t prove sincerity if the tone was sarcastic or dismissive. All we can hope for is leaked audio so we can make our own conclusions.

Lebron was like: "Hold me back! Hold me back!... Wait!... For the sake of god. Please someone hold HIM back, while I'm stranding here trying to save face!“

What players said LeBron actually apologized? I believe Anthony Davis may have said LeBron went over to apologize. Not that he did apologize. Not the same thing. Did Vogel say anything? Maybe I haven’t read all reported accounts. But I haven’t heard someone confirm there was an actual apology in the moment. If there is or was, from a player or referee who was right there, then I take back everything. All the media say it so matter-of-factly, but say it in a way that’s still presumptive. “He was going over to Stewart to apologize.” Not “LeBron apologized.” That’s not reliable witness accounting. That’s still conjecture.

I think it should be a pretty high bar to set because Isaiah Stewart flipped the fuck out. If LeBron clearly and unquestionably apologized sincerely, then Stewart is a fucking nut job that needs a psych eval and anger management help. If LeBron said, “chill the fuck out. Sorry. But don’t be a bitch about it,” then Stewart’s actions are much more understandable. That’s why it’s important to know what was said. That’s why the reliability of someone saying what was said is just as important.

I want to know because I want to know how much of Isaiah Stewart’s crazy is on him. And if it’s all on him and none of it on LeBron’s words or reaction to the foul, then that changes my opinion of Isaiah Stewart as a mentally stable player for my home team. That’s why the bar should be set pretty high to find out what was said and the reliability of people who are claiming what was said.

Also, side note on all the stories about LeBron seeking Stewart’s phone number after the game to apologize. Wtf is that? Everyone from Wilbon to Shams to old man Johnson at the barbershop insisting on screaming and shouting how LeBron tried to get Isaiah Stewart’s phone number. He’s fucking LeBron James. If he wanted to get Stewart’s number, he could get Stewart’s number. Why does it have to be reported from the four letter network to the Apple Daily Taiwan News that he tried to get his number? It’s about as disingenuous a PR stunt as “The Decision.” You want to call the dude to apologize? Then call him and apologize. Don’t make sure every news outlet reports it. Fuck outta here.

Or it could’ve just been Lebron saying “good call” when Stewart somehow fouled Lebrons elbow with his face.

Well in the presser tonight he says he went over to apologize but sounds like Stewart wasn’t feeling it. He goes on to say accidental and explain how it happened but of course this could be a PR move and we know he likes to control narratives. I believe him Jam but don’t blame ya if you don’t…

Killakobe81,

How come you still don’t understand the difference between “going to apologize” and actually apologizing. It’s like the biggest part of my point in order to judge whether we can kind of understand why Stewart acted the way he did or whether he’s just a fucking nutjob. LeBron could have “intended” to apologize all he wanted. If he didn’t, then Stewart could have never viewed the situation as LeBron trying to apologize.

Say you take your lady out to a really nice restaurant. Have a great time, great meal. And right when you get up from the table, someone accidentally spills some wine on you. You go clean up in the restroom. And leave. Oh, you were “going to pay the bill,” but then that happened. There’s a difference between “intending” to pay the bill and actually paying the bill.

There still has yet to be confirmation of an “actual” apology. So we can’t assume that Stewart flipped the fuck out despite an apology. And LeBron himself said he “went over to apologize.” He didn’t say he apologized. That’s what I’ve been getting at.

Read the rest of LeBron’s comments. Called the suspension bullshit. Cried how it prevented him from playing in his favorite place to play, MSG. Poor baby. Blames Stewart for how he lifted his arm and got them off balanced. Says he tried to do a swim move and swung “down.” So now he swung “down.” The video was perfectly clear, and he claims he swung “down.” And then called his hit on Stewart a “graze” to his face. A closed fist that cut the guy open in the eye, a graze. Such a good guy being persecuted so harshly. They should probably give him a sportsmanship award. And the four letter story adds he has not spoken to Stewart yet. So those “reached out to get his number to apologize” stories were obviously a PR stunt. Oh but he sounds so genuinely remorseful and so sincere...

LeBron James apparently can’t get the phone number of a fellow NBA player. Must be someone else’s fault for that too. Poor common folk like LeBron certainly don’t have the juice or the connections to get just anybody’s phone number...

Come on, man.

Please relax I may have worded it poorly but Bron did not say he apologized in presser he only says he went over to do so. I figured you would have seen it by now. So there isn’t anything to get I heard it. He says he wanted to apologize but we could see what happened… (paraphrasing) have not heard Stewart’s account

I find it interesting how much you claim lebron's supposed apology is based in "conjecture", but your constant defense of Stanley's reaction and dismissal of lebron's apology and attempt to get Stanley's contact info is likewise based on conjecture

I’m not defending Stewart’s (not Stanley) reaction. That’s the thing. I thought Stewart’s behavior was egregious, over the top, and disturbing. There’s no defending his behavior. I thought he deserved more games in his suspension. And if LeBron actually apologized or said anything in a way to be apologetic (which we still don’t know), then it puts Stewart in an even worse light. It means, to me at least, the guy is mentally unstable and should get help. Because if he flips out after an apology, he’ll probably react similarly after other episodes that do not warrant such reactions. And that’s a dangerous 6’8, 250 physical specimen of a dude on the court. When he was being held back by Cade Cunningham, he could have easily seriously injured Cade. And I would have been pissed.

My desire to know what was said is to find out if there is any rational reason that Stewart flipped out like that. If LeBron said or acted in any way that could be seen as triggering Stewart to react in such a way, that somewhat changes the narrative. That’s why I offered the types of hypothetical comments that could have helped explain why someone would have gotten so full of rage.

And I keep saying that LeBron going to Stewart intending to apologize is not the same as LeBron apologizing because that’s exactly the information needed to determine how crazy Stewart’s reaction was. It’s conjecture either way, yes. Because we still don’t know that LeBron actually apologized. And LeBron himself didn’t say he actually apologized. To me, that’s telling.

Stewart basically got punched in the face and then started bleeding everywhere. The blood probably just pissed him off and he went off. It's understandable
