Several times is the last minutes, Vassell was all alone in the corner. He was ignored by the guards who kept trying to drive into the heart of the Mavs defense in the paint. Vassell was a 3 pt. weapon that should have been used, but too many wanna be heroes out there trying to win it by themselves. It's hard to fault Murray because he was shooting well until he wasn't, but trying to play a two man game with Poertle in the middle of a crowd isn't smart. Time to kick out for a three.

The starting forwards for the Spurs tonight were 6'4" and 6'6"and grabbed a total of 7 rebounds... it's great to talk about positionless basketball if you have Giannis, KD, Lebron, PG, or the like, but this seems like a huge problem to me. Our pair of starting forwards are already a poor rebounding tandem with McDermott at 6'7"... With Poeltl & Murray being good rebounders, the Spurs have the potential to be a great rebounding team if they can get some contributions from their forwards.

Maybe the starting guards should be Jones at PG (God, did I write that?) and Murray at SG (God, did I write that?) with Vassell at SF. That could leave McDermott on the floor at PF without too much of a loss on team defense.

Jones is small, but the SOB is crafty around the paint and gets a lot of FTs. He's obviously the smartest player on the team IMHO and that count's for something when you look at the rest of the players who are being expected to make good decisions on the offensive end.

Seems like the G-League prepares players to be obedient role players more than anything. I get the value of G-League when you're drafting late 1st or 2nd rounders and your main roster doesn't have the available minutes because they're in contention mode(Duncan era for instance). But there's no excuse for it now.

Well you can’t really say they’re at their ceiling. First, it’s early in the season. They’re bound to get better. Second, besides Derek, who personally I think has already peaked, we have very young guys who haven’t even skimmed the surface. I think DJ is going to just get better. He has that dog in him. Likewise Keldon. Lonnie, Vassell, Poeltl all have shown improvements from last season. I think we have to remember that they are a developing team and that’s exactly what they will show. Personally except for this game, I’ve been very pleased. Tonight it’s on Pop killing the momentum. Maybe he’s still experimenting on the players combination with a big lead, but that was a big flat in his face. That’s pretty much it.

That is absolutely NOT what happened. Popovich put in the worst fucking lineup possible out of a timeout and allowed a comeback. He does this every goddamn game we go up big. He did it against the Lakers the game prior. He did it during the 2nd round in 2016 against OKC constantly playing West/Diaw/Anderson/Mills together knowing these 4 on the court meant automatic layups. Shit, just look at game 6 of the 2013 finals. It's what he does and nobody knows why.. I don't even think he knows why, but he has to do it.
