I'm helping plan a party (this is family related, so don't ask if you can come :lol). I need to find a restaurant on the north side of town with a party room that can accommodate 40+ people, where I can set something up to pay by plate, have drinks, etc. The type of food doesn't matter and I'm not looking for something cheap.

Any suggestions?

La Fogata was reat to us when we did the family thing. I think you need 60 though to reserve their party room.

We used to do good things at Pappadeax's, and of course there's my place on the riverwalk. There's a 3rd floor for parties specifially that was redone about three years ago. It has a great view. Stunning with the lights on on the river.

Aldino has a party room, and its on the northside. Not sure about payment.

p.s. Can I come? :lol

Dave and Busters is always a safe bet for parties.

Grady's BBQ on Bandera RD ( in Leon Valley )
has a room that holds 40+ people AND they have a seperate party building out back.
So you've got a choice what set up you want to do.

Thanks. I'm not looking for something casual though.

:)

Thanks to everyone else for the other suggestions. Please keep them coming. The date is in a couple weeks and most places are booked. So I'll probably have to call tons of places.

La Hacienda's has been expanding so I'm not sure if they have a separate party room. But we have hosted really large parties of about 25 there before with great service and the bill was very, very reasonable and the food is terrific. They are ownd by the same people who own Los Barrios.

Kori- what about the San Francisco Steak House?

San Fransisco Steak House has a good private party room. It is where Brad has his reception, I think you'd like it.

I'll second the vote for Papadeaux.

They are very accomodating and generally tollerate just about anything. :lol

If you can't reserve a room at DORSIA, then try BARCADIA.

Ruth's Chris

It's something like $70 per plate there. :wow

Anyway, we have a plan now. The formal dinner isn't going to be this month now. So they are just having something smaller at home. If I need more suggestions again closer to the date of the actual formal one, I'll ask again.

Thanks for everyone's help.

Yes it is.

I called them and got their banquet menu.

It's $50-80 per person.

I wonder if they changed in the past 2 years. We didn't have a set price per plate. We just let everybody order whatever entree/drink they wanted, and had tons of pre-ordered sides brought to the tables.

That's not how it is at all now.

You pick 3 entrees and they print up a menu offering your guest any of those three. You also selected salad, appetizers, and whatever dessert you want to have on the menu (but your guests don't get choices on that - they just get whatever you've pre-selected).

Sorry, that bites! At least they make the menu though. It took me a while to copy their menu from the web site, take the prices off, and make it fit attractively on the page. PITA if ever there was one.

Hope everything goes well for y'all when you have it.

Very good suggestion. The room is pretty large and nice but casual. The food is a little pricey for what it is but I enjoy it when I go out there.

We will likely have it at Piatti's when it happens. It's about $30/plate and seems to be what we are looking for.
