There’s no question he has skills. The question is his drive. I’d rather see KBD and eventually Jock getting those minutes.

yes, but the point is Pop seems to have a habit lately of mismanaging his players and their playing time. There are numerous examples of this.

This is year one Lyles, seems about right on every team. It is year 2 that becomes a concern.

add playing them out of position to that.

nobody misses Trey Lyles. He’s a 3rd stringer.

Since I know you guys cared, I did get a chance to see Dieng play in person on Saturday. Seems like our C rotation might actually be OK without him.

Good for DeMar. I liked him while he was here and he didn't bring any drama. No surprise he didn't fit into Pop's "system". Seems like a recurring theme with players that thrive anywhere but San Antonio.

I just wonder how many other players we've squandered not named Tim, Tony or Manu. Thankfully their talent overrode Pop's arrogance.

This. Pop is the coaching version of Demar, LMA and Gay.

DeRozan is balling and even shooting and making threes, Pop was holding him back all along.

He was shooting and making them for a couple of weeks last season, too. When it became apparent that the spurs wouldn’t offer more than two years on a new contract, even the attempts stopped, mysteriously. It wasn’t Pop.

Mills just stripped Capela and got a lay up in the backcourt.

Lyles is averaging 8 and 4 on 43% shooting (31% from three) in 17 minutes on a team that is 4-21.

Yeah....REALLY balling out :rolleyes

Do posters here really forget all the guys that looked good here then went on to do jack shit afterwards? :lol weird to bring up Demar who has always been an All-star player. But Lyles sucked before he got here on two different teams, sucked here, and now sucks in Detroit.

Besides, it's still November. Always enjoy the early season overreactions tbh

I mean, I'd still rather have Lyles over Forbes just for his rebounding. This team can't keep playing four guard lineups or sliding the SF up to PF when it's unwarranted.

I would rather not have Forbes at all but this is irrelevant to this discussion since they don't play the same position at all and wouldn't take minutes from each other anyway
