Trump was up hundreds of thousands of votes in a state he won by hundreds of thousands of votes in 2016 until Waterleak Gate

I don't care if Biden or Trump or whoever poops their pants. Or tweets whatever. Only thing that matters is policy. I'd vote for fuckin' Jared Fogle if his policy aligned 100% with mine (no politicians do, tbh)

Maybe black people go from 10-15% GOP to more like 35-45% by next election cycle. on par with GOP Hispanic trends

Black Americans waking up and rejecting the white woke agenda of everything should be about race and the race card. And the agenda of "the whole concept of America is racist and if you question us you are a racist too".

Unfortunately that's just a hold and not a pickup. We're going to need a bunch of pickups next year and so far redistricting doesn't seem to be pointing to a lot of GOP pickups. Democrats are gerrymandering hard in their states more than ever before. Take Illinois for example. 41% of the state is GOP and the Dems drew it to where they're going to win that election 15 representatives to 2.

It's going to be harder than a lot of people think for the GOP to flip the House next year. I think winning the Senate back is likely, especially if Sununu runs

But will the republicans give us tax credits to reimburse us for the extra cost of gas from 2021-22 vs. 2020 provided we have receipts or credit/debit card transaction history to provide accurate numbers of this?

if they don't, they are just as dirty and hypocritical and I hate hypocrites. I'd probably vote democrat just to support the less hypocritical party who candidly supports getting rid of all fossil fuels and taking over the world with green fascist new world order policy.

no surprise, Austin is hard left, very similar in ideology, demographics, cost of living, and job market to San Francisco. Only 2 differences are 1 pro and 1 con: SF has much better/more consistent weather, but Austin has no state or local income tax while SF's combined is 14.3%.

14-3. Some Illinois Dems proposed a 15-2 map but it would have been a massive dummymander.

The 43% number is much higher than I thought but it's a low turnout off cycle election. In a midterm or general election I think that number is lower.

Both sides gerrymandering hard to make their states more hard left or hard right in terms of congressional seats than the percentages of voters in their respective states would indicate.

I don't think the Republicans are going to win by as a big of a landslide in the house next year as most people originally thought; and like you've said, the Democrats may get it back in 2026 if they have enough swing seats in California/New York/Illinois to offset the solid R seats the R's are working actively to create in the new maps across the red and the majority of the purple states.

At this rate I think the GOP is gonna pick up 20+ seats. So far the Dems have repeated every mistake from 2009 and 2010 and I don’t see it getting any better. Biden should have taken a much more proactive role in getting BBB through congress, instead he’s just sat back and watched the party fight with itself the same way Obama did with the ACA.

I think Biden fucked up by reneging on his pledge to veto the Rob Portman infrastructure plan if it wasn't passed jointly with BBB. Once he backpedaled on that and basically said he'll pass whatever congress sends him first I think it emboldened Manchin/Sinema into thinking they could bully him.

Sinema is just acting in bad faith. Manchin is acting out of self-interest and he's also just a bumbling idiot who's obsessed with 1990s era ideas about "work requirements" and "means testing." At one point he demanded that paid family leave have a work requirement :lmao

The party committees should create a new policy that they won't support any candidate who takes money from No Labels PAC and/or doesn't support obvious shit like giving Medicare the ability to negotiate drug prices.

Lol. I think the biggest thing hurting Democrats to be serious for a second is how this covid shit is dragging on forever. Biden had that one covid speech where he almost like declared victory over it but then the second wave and the breakthrough bullshit started happening. Of course a lot of people prolonging this shit is the fucking, dumb white trash rightwingers who won't get vaccinated but swing voters blame whoever is in power. Agreed completely. In May/June when people weren't wearing masks and everything was getting back to normal his approvals were high.

One thing I disagree with was bringing all the mask mandates/restrictions back. Punishing everyone for the anti-vaxxer stupidity is killing Biden with the swing voters imo. Notwithstanding all the exit polling in Virginia that was bad for Democrats, vaccine mandates had high approvals. Biden should have gone with those early on and discouraged mask mandates. Making anti-vaxxers the enemy is popular politically.

then again if they keep the vaccine mandate shit up too much they could start seeing the black vote creep into the 30s %+ for the GOP which could be the death knell for the Dems in a lot of swing states like GA, NC, VA, PA, MI, even WI. Not so much AZ or NV, but Latino trends recently are also worrisome for Dems. The Dems need to get the young white vote out to actually vote as much as possible. I read somewhere that somewhere around 86% of young millennial college educated voters (22-35) that don't have any children, say they prefer Democrats over Republicans and/or identify as liberal... I would say that's a large voting bloc

ACA eventually passed. 50/50 on whether BBB Infra will eventually pass; the Dems don't have the majorities they did back in those days.

Agreed, but, the GOP picking up 20-25 seats next year is a small victory for the Democrats and ensures the GOP won't ever be able to reach a type of landslide majority they had for most of the 2010s in the House. If the GOP is only ahead in the House by 10-15 seats there could be enough moderate Republicans to vote no on some bills or outright reject to draft radical stuff like anti abortion or homophobic crap.

That note sounds more like the NIH called up and said we are already in enough shit with the GOF research in Wuhan this is the last thing we need so issue a correction or no more funding for anything moving forward.

The funding for the study was very specific, I don't see how that was a mistake initially.

Funding: EZ and AS received funding from the US National Institutes of Health -grant number R21AI130485, and from the Wellcome Trust-grant number 209336/Z/17/7. The funders had no role in study design, data collection or analysis, decision to publish, or preparation of the manuscript.

Maybe this is tell tale sign the GOP should run some MAGA ticket like DeSantis/Youngkin in 2024 and leave Trump off the ticket and leave him in the background as a motivator and some sort of GOP chair. Youngkin is proof that the deep red MAGA voters will still turn out in droves -- they turned out for Youngkin even more than for Trump in Virginia -- and the GOP can potentially win back Virginia and several other states (NH, GA, MI, WI, PA, AZ, maybe NV and/or CO), win back the popular vote and make blue states like NJ competitive (tilt Dem)... what Youngkin did in VA is the winning formula for the GOP and they'd be damned not to follow it. Need to run up the scores in the rural areas with >85% of the vote and then be competitive in the suburbs, appeal to parents with children, oppose CRT, keep the focus on the economy, low taxes and anti-inflation and make the election about economic issues, public safety and education rather than stuff like trans, climate, etc. It also helps that people will stop caring about covid at some point next year.
