I took advantage of the Prime deal of 99 cents per channel for two months. I've watched a few episodes of Ray Donovan and it's OK I guess.
Is this thing worth sticking with?

So far, it clearly seems like a Sopranos lite.

Where does it rank among best dramas? It sure gets a lot of love but it just seems average right now.

I bailed after I think four seasons. Got dumber as it went on instead of smarter like, say, Breaking Bad. I can't see sticking with this premise for 80+ episodes.

Does it ever explain why all three brothers ended up in California and how Ray got to where he is?

You know, I don't even remember much of Ray's backstory, so probably not. They do flesh out his relationships with his brothers pretty well, which I found to be the best part of the show.

That was their problem. They wanted to be Sopranos version 2 and came up being neither them or original. Too focused on imitating other shows instead of being themselves. The characters are all played in such ridiculous caricature manner it was hard to take them seriously.

Specially Jon Voight.

Jon voight was the only reason I watched the show. It was so over the top ridiculous it was entertaining to me. I finished it but barely recall any of it.

Damn...no ringing endorsements.

I guess I'll move on to the new Dexter or finish Homeland.

I ended up sticking with this and just finished Season 2. It's really not bad at all and seems to move quick enough to keep my interest.

ah...I get what you're saying now...

like others, I watched several seasons of RD, but yeah, it didn't really get any better. I haven't seen it all through.

I guess I'll move on to the new Dexter or finish Homeland.
I'm liking the new Dexter. Could do without the sister.
