MEMPHIS: Desmond Bane (Questionable, Health and Safety Protocols), Brandon Clarke (Questionable, back), Kyle Anderson (Out, Health and Safety Protocols), Tyus Jones (Health and Safety Protocols), Dillon Brooks (Out, ankle)

SAN ANTONIO: Keita Bates-Diop (Out, Health and Safety Protocols), Devontae Cacok, Zach Collins, Josh Primo and Joe Wieskamp (Questionable - G-League Assignment)

I hate Spurs killer, effin Brooks. I’m glad he’s out. If Spurs can continue shooting good, 57% last night and 37% from deep, and moving the ball 38 assist, Spurs have great chance :lol. Maybe we can see Primo and Zollins tonight just in case. Spurs by 4 pts :flag::flag::flag:

The Spurs have taken down some good teams this year, but they are still underdogs here. Morant will probably go for at least 30.

So this was supposed to be the Spurs only nationally televised game this year. The media hates the Spurs so much though they decided to show the Knicks/Heat game instead at the last second...

Funny pic of DJ getting screwed by Forbes in the article though, lol.

What a bunch of BS. I know we aren't good right now, but Memphis is one of the surprise teams of the year and Ja Morant is fun to watch.

Meanwhile, the Knicks are hot garbage like always and have 29 nationally broadcast games.

I don't really care because I've stopped paying for cable service a long time ago, but it's pretty shitty to pull the one and only national showing for a team.

Memphis deserve some props for the team they have put together. Ja and JJJ were high lottery picks but you have teams like Orlando and Sacramento that squander that gift.

Also Desmond Bane who was picked 19 picks after Vassell is averaging 18 PPG and 42% from three on 7 attempts and Dillon Brooks averaging 18 who they drafted in the 2nd round.

Was gonna say earlier; unpopular opinion, but Landale isn't an NBA player. Might grow accustomed to the speed of the NBA, but it's become clear why he didn't get a shot in the NBA until now.

I agree to an extent. I wish the Spurs had more athletes with some dog in them. Lonnie is the most athletic player on the team and is soft as hell. Spurs tend to draft away from those type of players. DJ is the only player they have drafted with some dog in them in recent memory. I agree with the Pop part though, this team needs a complete system overhaul and get someone thats wiling to adapt to present times.

Great PGs come and go. Morant’s game relies on a lot of athleticism, and tbh he’s nowhere close to guys like CP3 or Curry and probably will never reach that level. Rings are won by teams led by a big and to a lesser extent wings. Unless Morant gets paired with another great big or great wing, expect a ringless future.

I was at the game, here are some takeaways I have. Jakob played well against Adams but his presence doesn't scare deter any guards from driving on him. JJJ falls every other possession and subsequently complains to the refs the whole game. Murray looked tired for most the game until the 4th. Memphis played Doug McDermott very tough and there was one call he didn’t get that seemed to throw him off the whole game. Seemed like Pop was letting Becky draw up a lot of the offense at the very end of the game. Ja is ridiculously fast but the refs bailed him out.

John B
01-27-2022, 01:04 AM
JJ Jr was a tough cover as a mobile C for Jock. I thought Pop should’ve put Poeltl on him who is more agile than Jock, and Jock could’ve handled a slower Adams. KBD could’ve helped.

Agreed, we don't have a go-to guy yet on this team.
The only players who seem able to create their own shots are Vassell and Primo, and neither is developed enough yet to be that guy.

This is why Primo in the G League makes sense for this year.
He could easily come be a solid 3 and D guy right now, but if we let him develop the shot creation skills he has shown he can be a difference maker.
I still want him to get some run with the main club of course.
Maybe after we are eliminated from playoff contention we will let Primo come work out the kinks on the main stage.

I also think shot creation is something we need to keep an eye on in the draft. If we can fit a need and also get that...

I always think Murray is too thin to absorb contacts. But looking at Ja Morant, that kid is peerless.
