Name: Robert Horry
Position: F
Born: 08/25/70
Height: 6-10
Weight: 240 lbs.
College: Alabama '92

The Lakers have a team option on Horry and will probably let him go, making him a free agent.

The Spurs would have a good chance of landing Horry if they went after him. Horry wants to be closer to home (Houston) becaue one of his kids is sick.

He's the definition of a clutch player. If you look up "clutch" in the dictionary, you see a picture of Horry lining up for three in the playoffs.

The drawback on Horry is he doesn't try until April. If you are going to expect big things in the regular season, you will be dissapointed. But come playoff time, there isn't anyone else in the league you'd want taking a shot in the fourth quarter.

I think Horry would be a good player to go after. He could play the Danny Ferry role in the regular season and then his minutes could pick up in the playoffs.

You don't have to sell me. This would be the quintessential Pop move.

if i had anybody to shoot a wide open three for the game in the playoffs it would be horry.

he's kind of like a jim leyritz.

don't know if he would work on the spurs though.

I don't think the Lakers will release him unless he wants to be released, but with his family situation, it's a decent possibility

I'll pass, he doesn't play defense anymore. Just grabs, I don't think Pop would like that. He can be a bigger role on a different team.

How much money would he demand?

Not more than the LLE. If he doesn't go to Houston, SA is a good possibility.

If the Spurs get Kidd, I suppose there are worse things than a TD, Rose, Horry rotation at bigman.

Horry's the ultimate role-player - he's clutch, athletic, can shoot, and is a very good man-on-man defender. The only way I see the Lakers exercising that option to cut him is if they flame out badly and early in the playoffs though.

I hate the prick....NO!

I hate him too bad that's because he has DECIMATED the Spurs so often. God damn Horry has hit so many big shots in his lifetime I think we all hate him. But that's also why we want him on OUR team.

bb, he was all those things, now hes a clutch 3 point shooter. He gets away with a lot of holds. He is not athletic anymore. If you get him, don't be surprised when he doesn't try on 70% of the plays.

He's not athletic? Did you see that dunk he threw down on like 3 Mavs last night? It looked like 94 all over again. Horry's probably the second-best defender of Tim in the game (gotta give Sheed #1). Horry would be a solid guy to play 20 minutes a night and to have closing games at the SF/PF.

If Horry goes anywhere, it would probably be to Houston, Dallas or San Antonio. He's publicly stated he wants to be close to home (Houston) for family reasons.

I'd give him $2M a year based just on the fact that he's the clutchest player in the game.

I am praying we can get someone better than Horry. Pop wants the 8 man rotation anyways. Unless Rose starts (mistake) Then Horry wouldn't see a whole lot of minutes.

Horry would find minutes come playoff time.

My guess is he'll go to the Mavs, he likes to be the on the Spurs rival team.

Thinking differently, suppose the Spurs signed Jermaine O'Neal, would the front-court depth of the Spurs permit Horry to spend more time on the IR (wink-wink), thus allowing more time to tend to family matters? I've got no complaints about waiting until April for Horry to contribute.

This is an unorthodox thought, but it's worth pondering. Certainly an interesting negotiating point.

Adios.

I hate Robert Horry.

But thats because I have so many damn memories of him grabbing the hearts of Spur fans and stomping on them with his clutch 3's.

He would be similar to a Mario Elie pickup in some ways.

If the price is right. Snatch him up.
