Is is that FG are somehow harder to make these days, or does the quality of kickers just suck? It seems like there are no automatic kickers like there used to be. I see missed FG all the time now. Even the short ones aren't a given anymore.

it's because teams are too cheap to splurge on a decent kicker. kickers are probably as important as a tightend or fullback so why not draft them?

We have Nedney, he is just hurt. We just picked up Cortez for a few weeks. Soon as Nedney's back, Cortez is gone. I cant stand him!!
