Luka looked he could have dropped 60 tonight if the game wasn't over by the second quarter. Was like watching LeBron toy with the Pistons in Game 5, only those Pistons weren't a 64 win team. Sucks that in a few years people will look at 123-90 like it wasn't that big a deal when most of the game felt more like a 123-70 game.

the Pistons from the previous year were indeed a 64 win team and they were virtually the same exact team except with Chris Webber and Nazr Mohammed playing center instead of Ben Wallace. In any case Detroit was still the #1 seed in back to back years in 2006 and 2007 and choked away the ECF. Chokingest team ever.

I quit (owen) yes, but I don't want the Suns to ring. If they ring I ain't gonna grudge it. I'll be happy for the fellows. They need it. I understand that need, so, if they get it I'll be happy for the rank and file.
Guys, my barrel days are behind me forever. I'll never roll another.
I want to see Suns faithful get that NBA World Championship. They need it. It's medicinal for them now. They're a good bunch and have always fought me without quarter given, or, expected. Sure, I've been booted off their land, but that was their choice not mine. And I hold no ill feelings over my numerous ousters. I've loved every minute of our feud like I've enjoyed mine here with the Mav's fellows and Spurs guys. It's provided me with a lot of good memories and feelings, from happiness to anger, but in the final analysis we've had a grand time.
Each of us have reached the promised land, mono you went last. We've all drank from the silver cup. I wanted some of those so damn bad. I can only imagine how bad you wanted it mono. It must have been like a dream to finally realize it. Suns faithful have never had that, so I'm hoping for them. And if it does I'll be front and center congratulating them and honoring their accomplishment.
If it does not I'll feel bad for them and leave them to grieve in peace.

Lol, it was Jason Kidd outcoaching Monty and Kidd's defensive adjustments that won you that series, not Luka. Mavs will get destroyed by Golden State. Luka has proven to be a better player than I thought during his rookie year. So I was wrong about that. But that doesn't change my opinion on Ayton or on Ayton being the right pick. The Suns have just massively failed in how they've utilized Ayton (for example, see Game 1 vs. the Mavs and how they went away from what worked), and they don't seem to even want to keep him, which is insane. Doncic and Booker together never would have worked out and almost certainly would not have produced an NBA Finals run. I can't stand Luka or his demeanor and I'm still glad he's not on the Suns.

draft Luka, trade Booker for a better fitting #2, sign a key free agent other than cp3, along with having crowder, bridges and a slew of solid role players... sounds like more than a single trip to getting whooped in the finals where every opponent beaten along the path had a major injury to one of their two best players.

Oh man Doncic was the one sure thing pick since LeBron too. No way he wasn't going to be awesome in the NBA when he was already a really good player in Euroleague where they don't give a fuck about giving minutes to young guys they know are NBA bound. Had to earn those minutes with what he could do right then. Sacramento being stupid enough to trade the #2 pick was my dream Kawhi trade that year.

No, I couldn’t stand that chant or the Suns’ stupid actions at the end of game 5.
I did think the Suns would win the series in 4 or 5, the Mavs hadn’t beaten us since 2019. I did not know the team chemistry had gone south behind the scenes or that the team would quit when the going got tough. I still believe the Suns are the better team, they just lacked the heart this year, and the defensive adjustments fooled Monty.

I know the Mavs are massive underdogs vs. the Warriors but I think they will make a series out of it. The Mavs perimeter defence matches up decently with the Warriors and Luka generally plays well vs. the Warriors.
We will see if Donkey can put the clamps on Luka and how physical the series will be, but I would say GS won't be able to take out the Mavs in less than 6 games, and I won't be surprised if the Mavs beat the Warriors in 6 or 7.
On the East, last night was an aberration, Celtics in 6.

Luka is going to matchup hunt Draymond, so that he has to focus on guarding Luka vs being able to anchor the defense. That’s going to lead to either Luka cooking every night for a 40 piece, or getting 10+ assists, or both.
Is it enough to beat the Warriors? Maybe not if Steph/Klay turn back the clock and hit impossible shots. But the Mavericks will not go out with a whimper, despite whatever Sadboy Suns Fans hope.

Lol, it’s crazy how everyone acts as if the Suns were healthy themselves last year. CP3 could barely dribble a basketball in the first round with the shoulder injury and missed the first two games (wins) of the WCF with Covid. Then Pat Bev broke CP3’s wrist for the Finals (had to have surgery in the summer). And Booker played with a hamstring injury starting in Game 3 of the Finals.
P.S. How’s that not going out with a whimper working out for you so far?

Instead of loading up at the deadline(s) the Suns, per usual brazened it out as they always do; going the rest of the way on the cheap using the guise of dancing with who brung us. You didn't have enough during the last Finals, and that lack of talent persisted into these playoffs.

Tbh, I still have no problems with taking Ayton over Luka. I'm not sure if Luka would have developed into being a top 5 player if he was sharing the ball with Booker this whole time, and at the time Ayton just made too much sense. Local kid who fills the big man need the Suns have basically had since their inception.
That's not intended to be a knock against Luka though, his play speaks for itself. The real fuck up with Sacramento taking Marvin B:lolgley over Doncic.

Amare was 6'8" tops and it was always a stretch to play him at center; he was never a consistent low post player. Ayton is a natural center who plays primarily in the low post.
Marion wasn't in the same role btw. On Phoenix he was expected to be an all star, on Dallas he was a role player who needed to provide consistent offense. He was a glue guy. Quite frankly one of the reasons those Suns teams always came up short was because they had a max contract wing player on the roster who couldn't even create his own shot off the dribble.

They want Ayton's 20/10, they just don't want to buy it and own it...rubs them raw to contemplate it. So, they disparage him on the edges thinking that he won't notice, or, won't hold it against them. They've done this before with players and it's never worked out well, but that doesn't stop them from trying it with Ayton.

Quite frankly one of the reasons those Suns teams always came up short was because they had a max contract wing player on the roster who couldn't even create his own shot off the dribble.
Marion did everything and then some for PHX. He wasn't a complete player, a bit of a jack of all trades but damn good at everything, though no great. He was the ultimate team player and the best defender on the team. He was definitely much better than 380 pound washed up 'Shaqtus :lmao wtf was Kerr and D'Antoni thinking? Same thing with letting Joe Johnson and (arguably) Q-Rich go. Kurt ----ing Thomas on a SSOL team? WTF? :lmao

do you ever read posts in their entirety and try to understand the point? ever? i swear you must glance through, see a single trigger word or sentence that you go on some kind of random rant about, while fully missing the point of literally every single post or thread you reply to.

Lol.

2nd leading scorer is pretty good for a 5th option.

wonder if the Mavs would be in the finals if they were giftwrapped a series with Steph out

These playoffs would be eating me from the inside if I was Suns fan, seeing extremely flawed 53, 52, 53, and 51 win teams in the conference finals. Once Milwaukee got beat there was no one that should have been much of a challenge for Phoenix, but Choke Paul never disappoints in disappointing in May/June. This title was giftwrapped to them.

the warriors would’ve beaten the suns tbh. and the celtics had a good chance of doing that too. both those team can score and have better coaching. heat have better coaching too.

The issue with Paul is his unwillingness to give up the ball. Once a team figures out a way to trap and guard him he will keep forcing the issue and his team will eventually fall apart. He’s not a good enough player to carry the entire offence of a championship team like a jordan, shaq, Kareem, bird type of player. He just has to figure it out and let the rest of his team do some of the lifting. A little like nash in a way but totally different styles.

I don't think they should have beaten the Suns. The Suns have such a talented roster while the Warriors really don't seem like their previous incarnation when Thompson was an elite defender and the second best shooter in the league. Now he's a terrible defender and a good but not great shooter. Really feels like the Warriors are backing into a title.

Rendered unplayable? What are you talking about? He was the only Suns player who showed up for Game 6. Outplayed by Biyombo and Javale? Did you even watch the series? Lol.

tbh they have the feel of the 14-15 version where it's just quality role players galore to go along with Steph/Thompson, who may have physically lost a step but have the experience to make up for it IMO
