Tbh, the original one isn't that great either. I can actually see those 3 "alternative" logos as an attempt to change the original one.

There are two other teams in Texas.

I think there's good business sense in pretending the spurs are an Austin team without leaving SA. If they can capture the market it leads to more business.

Haha first one isn’t the worst and I understand the connectivity of Texas as an international fan, because to me San Antonio from an early age was my first real knowledge of Texas, even though I don't think San Antonio or the Spurs are very representative of the state as a whole.

Those other two are terrible. I wouldn’t even wear gym merch that sported that…

They should test out of Vegas Spurs gear Viva Los Spurs.

Brutal year for Spurs uniforms.

First, the laughing stock Flint Tropics sherbet uniforms.

Now these Etch-A-Sketch attempts. Worst of the three is the Texas one. Totally missed the bullseye if it was meant to land on San Antonio. Embarrassing.

Silver and black is the coolest color scheme in all of sports. Every NBA team tries to gimmick a 'dark' uniform these days and our team doesn't have to. The 1998 Spurs uniform is the gold standard. Maybe add a little bit of Fiesta color accent in that side piping, but it's not needed. That gear is perfection. Everything else = a waste of time.

New logos are great if you have no tradition.

However, the only thing this team literally still has is tradition. :spin

I like black basketball one. Clean, modern.

Others are pretty bad. i get they’re trying to be more global, etc., but the Texas one actually does the opposite (it’s more provincial). The last one just sucks.

Fair enough but for us yanks the Texas state silhouette is instantly the most recognizable and frequently brandished among the 48 states.
The artist they hired probably would’ve mangled a Colorado or a Wyoming crest if this Spurs ‘attempt’ is any indication

Them shoehorning Texas into all three logos really makes you think they're laying some foundation for a possible Austin move. If San Antonio isn't going to build them a new arena might as well look at Austin where they'd sell more luxury boxes.

i do understand that, but TEXANS love their weird shape since it's unique in the country. i mean you get tortilla chips in the shape from the grocery or belt buckles. i think they put the emblem on special editions of trucks too. you see it as much as the flag really. San Antonio is also the 4rth biggest city in the state so they need to act regionally to catch up to larger markets like Houston and Dallas.

Minimalism and the use of neutral colors has been the Spurs' design philosophy in recent decades. I like it personally. I feel like it gives the brand more class.

Wish they would have kept this one from the early 2000s. Thought it was an awesome secondary.

Seems a bit outdated but I actually like the aesthetic on the spur. Some good use of negative space. Not sure how well it would scale.

The background shape seems like a bit of an afterthought and clashes with the top of the spur. Makes the whole thing seem unsymmetrical.

I can't believe we haven't somehow found a good way to work the Alamo into a logo.

Yes, The Alamo silhouette shape in the background with the Spur design in front symbolizes San Antonio. Something along those lines is better than the whole state of Texas.

Surprised the Spurs don’t ever incorporate the Alamo design into their secondary logos. One would think that would almost be necessary considering how iconic it is and how interconnected it is with the city.

Is that really a debate being had down in San Antonio? Even if no Tejanos may not have perished at the battle, Seguin had dozens of guys posted there. Not to mention hundreds of Tejanos that supported and participated the revolution.
Also Santanna was a European Spaniard by blood, unless Spain is seen in its own demographic category nowadays.
