Heard it's damn good. Kilmer shows and nails it, hard. Woulda been nice had the girl appeared, but that does not happen. Try and get the Dolby experience...it pulses significantly.

Solid 7.5

Tom always does good job. There was no clear villain which I think kinda took away from the draw but overall quality job by the crew. Maverick 4 ever

And then that other moment in the original where the one guy tells the other guy he's giving him a hard on.

I grew up in the 90s and it was more well rounded with more depth. But my memories of the 80s America as an immigrant are very cozy and wholesome.

pretty fucking obvious

and the worst part?

all these idiots cheering this movie, calling each other maverick and wearing silly sunglasses, etc

too gay (no offense to actual gays)

tbh Top Gun: Maverick is incredibly fun to watch, it’s truly an amusement park ride. Also a breath of fresh air not having to watch CGI wizards fighting in a CGI world for two hours.

But the girl is everything; substantial, ripe, gorgeous in the elevator scene; that had to be filmed at another juncture/she's thin, whereas in her home she's hiding her girth under that throw pillow, needlessly...I wanted to see the paunch. Again she hides it with her shirt in the bedroom scene, needlessly.

If not for COVID I'd a went just for the 5 minutes of Kilmer.

There was some CGI but I love that they limited it. Great comparison to the amusement park ride. Dolby Atmos was practically invented for this.

I feel bad for Kelly McGinnis because she didn’t even get an invite to be in the movie.

the movie is ok, but nothing special. That whole love story was also not needed at all, it just made the movie longer. It did sound and looked great, but other than that pretty generic. its like a 5 or a 6/10, just like the first one.

also mach 10?? lol, americans do love to jerk off to themselfs.

I wonder how this movie would have done at the box office in Russia if it were allowed to play there.

It also seems like a genius marketing decision not to play this movie in China given that it would have likely been censored and been a dud anyway. Instead, they have made the movie even more "All-American" by refusing to censor it.

There’s a theory that most of the movie is a dying dream after the test plane disintegrated. I admit, I had wondered how someone could survive a scenario like that.

Top Gun/Bottom Gun..

That era had big women. The chick (Shue) in Karate Kid was big compared to Ralphie boy. She went from basically dating a 10 year old to nursing Homelander and getting eye sockets fucked out by his beams. McGinnis was bigger than Cruise (who wasn't?) and it appeared awkward. They should have found someone more his size.

Enjoyed the hell out of it. Definitely the kind of movie to go see in theaters vs waiting for the home release.

Elizabeth Shue is 5'2". That's several inches shorter than Cruise or Macchio. And quite possibly why she was cast against them.
