Go get a shingles vaccine next week. I put it off and got hit with it last week...all over the left side of my face and scalp. I can honestly say this is some very bad shit....feels like a chemical burn plus random electrical shocks. Virtually impossible to sleep. I have been lucky so far and it hasn't attacked my cornea even though its all over my eye lids etc and the eye is swollen shut. It can cause blindness if it gets in the actual eye itself.

Damn, that sucks. How long will it last?

CosmicCowboy

Can last a month or more. I went to the doctor in the first 48 hours from the first symptoms so got on antiviral drugs. Hope it helps.

Supposedly advances from the burning and swelling to blisters and then scabs. Not looking forward to my eye and left side of my face being covered in scabs.

I thought it was some kind of allergic reaction. Doctor told me it was shingles and immediately had me go to an opthomologist to check my eye.

Candles, wine and some flowers makes it tolerable.

Can you have cigars though? They stop you from craving food. Alternatively you can play chess or simcity all day to pass the time.

If Covid had these symptoms, was really easy to catch, but killed absolutely no one, people would be lined up asking to be vaxxed and would not be the least bit worried about their rights.

And holy shit to the symptoms. Skin stuff sounds really painful.
Hope it goes away before it gets to your skin as sleeping could be really difficult having to lie in one position possibly.
And the other stuff, eyes... damn. Left side...? sounds like it plays with nerves?
Get well please. No symptoms.

Ive had shingles,,,,it sucks. Imagine having a severe sunburn in a specific area and then raking it over glass shards. Colonoscopy on the hand is nothing,,,the worst part is drinking the nasty shit they give you for the night before the procedure to clean you out,,,and you better stay close to a bathroom or youre in big trouble,,,,the procedure itself youre not even awake for,,,,nothing to it.

What do shingles have to do with colonoscopy?

I did the turd in a box instead. No shit (pun intended), the pamphlet says "do not drink" the liquid they provide and do not urinate in the container. That means people have done both. Someone actually shit IN the container instead of using the tool to get a sample. :lol

It's the drinking lime flavored saltwater until you pee out of your butt that's the worst.

Well worth it tho. My sister in law died of butt cancer, you don't want to die that way trust me.

I remember my mom having shingles during Christmas one year. She was in sheer agony. Hope it doesn't last long for you.

Any idea how you might have got it?

Turd in a box only accurate at telling you if you have cancer. Colonoscopy they can see/remove any polyps that might turn into cancer.

Shingles vaccine/Colonoscopy = things you should do when you get older

Everyone has it. It's dormant chickenpox virus come back to life.

Vaccines don't prevent infection.

They don't know why, just happens to about half of people at some point over age 50.

I can walk fine but still disappointing. I used to be able to ski black and double black ski slopes but don't have the rigidity anymore to ski well no matter how much strengthening therapy I do...I was able to get my 5 year old grandson started this year but in a couple years i won't be able to keep up with him.

I didn't really hear that it can hit your face and make you blind. I thought it was more concentrated around your core, abs, back area.

CosmicCowboy
05-30-2022, 05:48 PM
Yep, sadly it can hit the face and scalp too. I think I caught it early enough to keep it from spreading to my cornea.

No, that's how you get loaded with monkeypox.

It started that way.
Now its in general all the different sore areas and face to face respiratory.
I read that people thought AIDS was a disease mandated by God to punish gays.
Wonder if world that knows God so well sees the monkey pox the same way.

You can still ski... right?
You dont have to do difficult hills to enjoy, correct?

I skied this year but its a little spooky. My right knee especially has some right/left play I can't control.. I go to set my edges to turn and the ski trys to chatter. Hard to explain.
