Not as exciting as a Spurs-Lakers game used to be, but watching Kobe vs Bruce is always entertaining.

It's been a few days since the Bulls game. They'll probably get out of the gate looking sluggish, but the Spurs should leave some handprints are Phil's ass tonight.
P.S.-I would like to thank Kori for placing me in the company of such Spurstalk sages as Batman, Bigsac, Jiggaboo, and GIG as people who have had one of their threads shut down. I now belong to the ages.

3 days off, Spurs lose, homer's excuse:
"NATURALLY they lost. they're rusty, need some weeks to re-find their rhythm" :)
uh, RE_find? what rhythm?
Sean's a jerk, he just said pre-game to Rinagel that he expects the Spurs to win every night, they're the Champs, the playoffs are important, but the season counts, too. What an spoiled asshole he is. :)
It's amazing how just Nick and Mike have totally de-stabilized and destroyed the Spurs Championship basketball. So we suck with average basektball all season while Nick and Mike learn how to play Spurs basketball?
Spurs have no swagger,
Spurs aren't having fun,
no self-confidence,
nobody's scared of them now beyond the pro forma lip service of "they're the Champs"
3 losses where the Spurs get really beat bad, and ugly W's. When do they quit cheating the fans and play romp-and-stomp, scorched-earth basketball? Do we have to wait until April? Why can't the Spurs have a championship season AND have a championship playoffs? Why mutually exclusive?

didja see Cook pop Tony a good hard body foul as Tony was driving?
then a shot of Phil smiling?
We'll see if Tony keeps driving so much.
I don't see how Tony can claim Chip is happy with his FT form, when Tony is still not following through with hand and wrist, but popping back his hand from the ball. He's puts no soft, finger-rolling feel into the release of the ball, so he gets random FT results.

Well the win is all that matters, but you would like to see more convincing victories.
I've said it before, and I'm sure I'll say it again before the year is over, but the Spurs seem to me to be playing exactly like the Pistons did last year after winning the Championship. They don't seem to bring it all game. They KNOW they can run on cruise control, and turn it on when they have to. It made it very frustrating last year for all Piston fans. The Championship hangover is in effect.
I'm still sure that the Spurs will be in the Finals (vs. the Pistons of course!) but it could be a very long year for the fans.
Interesting observations on the game stats:
Bynum has his career high in minutes, points and assists.
Sasha also has season highs in minutes and points.
Odom went off. Season high in points, and ties season high in rebounds.
Negative stats.......that seem to be a recurring problem;
16 turnovers (TP-4 TD-5)
< 60% on freethrows
Rasho in foul trouble. He may get more opportunities if he didn't accumulate so many fouls.
In summary, a win is a win is a win is a win. Take it and move on. No need to bitch and moan about anyones performance. It's a veteran team. Bad games will happen. Novemeber games do not a season make. As poorly as some performances have been, the team is still 11-3....not too shabby. All Spur fans should be happy with how things are going so far.

i think this is what pop wants, maddening as it is. i think i remember him being frustrated at the spurs blowing teams out for a while last year. i do like how they shut kobe down and held the lake under 90 points, i just don't like the lack of flow on offense and the long scoring droughts. i would hope that would have something to do with players not being left in long enough to get acclimated and keep runs going.

I thought the Lakers got some nice play from young Bynum tonight. He defended the lane pretty well and he had a couple of nice buckets in the 4th quarter.
Odom was everywhere tonight, though. He save a bunch of trips for the Lakers after Kobe missed time and again in the 4th. The only other player for the Lakers who showed much was Sasha Vujacic. His 7 points on 2 FG attempts (4 point play) came at a key time for them.

Rasho seems to get a little tentative once he gets into foul trouble. but other than that he is doing very well.

to sum it all this not what i expect from the new Lakers
they are not as bad as I thought.
and they have young player @ center like Bynum, with potential.
well, we have one too, to face off against him someday-> Ian Mahinmi :D
but, they're good, they could still catch up until playoffs.

If not for Bowen Kobe could have made a 50 pts out of his 33 attempts.........
