On the same night, voters in the overwhelmingly progressive city of Los Angeles signaled their unease with Democrats' handling of crime and homelessness by elevating billionaire shopping mall magnate Rick Caruso, a former Republican who became a Democrat earlier this year, into a runoff race to replace term-limited Mayor Eric Garcetti.

:lol this is exactly what I'm talking about. Same election boards and rules applied in 2016 when Mussolini-wannabe was elected. The issue here is the GOP lost in a landslide.

Also, what legislature was "bypassed"? The legislatures that voted and approved their own election rules, including their election boards and instilled them with power?

This has gone to court and upheld. The fact that GOP legislatures got buyer's remorse after Old Joe beat the ever living shit out of Trump doesn't mean they can change the rules during the election.

Hilarious. The destruction of this country starts by trying to overturn lawful elections and deny people their right to vote. That is the ultimate power to remove the people you don't want or like.

Everything else can be fixed one way or another, but once you lose democracy, you're done. This is coming from somebody that lived through a military dictatorship, so this isn't a guess either.

"the ruling rich in our country have only one answer to the social problems we have:

Lock ‘em up.

Mass incarceration was their answer to the 50 years ago and

it is still their answer today as demonstrated by the campaign they mounted to get rid of Chesa Boudin.

They spent $6 million doing it -

outspending Chesa’s supporters six to one.

Hi-tech billionaires,

real estate magnates, and

the police union were the forces behind Chesa‘s defeat"

I don't run away from any conversation, tbh. He was a legit POTUS for the duration of his term. There was nothing 'kangaroo' or illegal about his impeachments, it actually doesn't get any more constitutional than that.

He was investigated and cleared by a Special Counsel, for alleged crimes much bigger than a blowjob, so I don't know why we're going to pretend that the bar is much higher now.

Fuck your democracy btw because we're a Democratic Republic which is what you should've learned first before you got your citizenship here. Again, you hold no allegiance here but it's ok.

This is what it all boils down to. You only like democracy when your candidate wins. That's your 'allegiance'. Sorry, democracy doesn't work like that, not in America anyways. You don't get to impose your view of what America is or needs to be on others. Everybody votes and has a say.

lol caps. Nobody is conflating anything here. Maybe you need to grab a dictionary and a copy of the US Constitution and start reading (see footnote below)

de·moc·ra·cy
noun
a system of government by the whole population or all the eligible members of a state, typically through elected representatives.

Being a Republic doesn't preclude the fact that we run a democratic process, and thus that makes us a democracy (the historically longest uninterrupted one at that)

See:
US Constitution, Article 1 Section 4, Clause 1
Fifteen Amendment of the US Constitution.
Nineteenth Amendment of the US Constitution.

El tell that to all your buddies who want to eliminate the EC, pack the SC, and take our rights away carte blanche.

1) Removing the Electoral College, if replaced with direct elections, would still make this country a Republic and still a democracy. So that doesn't really invalidate anything said before.
2) The Supreme Court is not a democratically elected body, and at least so far, it's composition hasn't changed (and if it did, it wouldn't be the first time in this country's history either).

That said, I don't think either is likely, at least in the short term. When it comes to "take away rights carte blanche", a Constitutional Amendment has a very high bar, one that's unsurmountable right now.

‘Join us in California.’ Gavin Newsom running a reelection ad — in Florida

Gov. Gavin Newsom is launching his first television ad of the general election on Monday, but not in California. The ad will air thousands of miles away, in Florida, further fueling speculation that he wants to run for president — or, at a minimum, to troll the state’s Republican leaders.

In the ad, Newsom contrasts the policies in California and Florida while images flash of former President Trump and Gov. Ron DeSantis, potential 2024 presidential candidates.

“Freedom, it’s under attack in your state. Republican leaders, they’re banning books, making it harder to vote, restricting speech in classrooms, even criminalizing women and doctors,” Newsom says in the 30-second spot. “I urge all of you living in Florida to join the fight, or join us in California, where we still believe in freedom — freedom of speech, freedom to choose, freedom from hate and the freedom to love.”

Newsom’s gubernatorial campaign is spending about $105,000 to air the ad on Fox News stations around the state, according to AdImpact, a firm that tracks political advertisements. The ad is running on Independence Day, when most voters are unlikely to be glued to their television sets. The move, which was rolled out on CNN on Sunday, appears designed to draw national media attention.

The size of the buy is a pittance for the governor, whose reelection campaign had more than $23 million as of May 21, according to the latest filings with the secretary of state’s office. Newsom is heavily favored in the fall election over his conservative Republican challenger, state Sen. Brian Dahle, from Northern California.

Newsom, 54, has repeatedly denied that he wants to run for president, but many political experts are skeptical, particularly considering the speculation, warranted or not, about President Biden’s plans to seek reelection.

dumbass,,,california is one of the most moved out of states in America,,,Texas is one of the most moved into states,,,,

per Forbes,,,

According to USPS change-of-address data, these are the 10 top states people are fleeing.
1. California2021 saw a net loss of over 101 thousand households in California despite a mostly pleasant climate and robust tech industry. Rising housing costs, rising taxes and politics seem to be driving many people to look for opportunities elsewhere. Other factors that emigrants have cited are the rising threat of wildfires and the constantly increasing cost of living. Many families from the state are relocating to Texas.

:lmao changing the subject

but, I'll indulge: if you're poor, you certainly should be moving to shithole states like Texas or Florida, tbh...

California, the largest economy in the US by a long mile, has definitely become overpopulated and housing prices are prohibitive. A victim of it's own success in those areas, and why lowly states like Texas are begging California companies to move there.

But certainly, if you can't afford to live here, you should definitely seek your fortune with the rest of the peasants in cheaper states like Texas, etc...

I mean, I would? Except for GlobalFoundries and Tesla? That said, most of those companies are simply moving their HQs for tax purposes (companies moving to NY would be the exception here, I suspect there was a tax break involved). ie: Tesla Motors is not moving operations away from California. They're keeping their factory here, since California happens to be their largest market as well.

I can easily afford to live here. Doesn't mean I should have to accept the open corruption here. Det surplus is a great marketing tool, it's a shame it's rarely mentioned in full context when used to brag about the state burning hardest to the ground.

Our economy? Great for people who hate the poor. Aren't you an immigrant from a South American country?

Everything else in this state? Fucking rotten. The self-made water issue. They could build 15 water desalination plants and still have cashish left. The homeless problem the Mayor of LA and his minions have been been busted openly robbing the tax payers to shelter just a handful of the homeless, 85-90% of which are California natives? And then the fact we're one of the literal dumbest states (our public school system is failing worse than any Red state) is just unacceptable. There's nothing to brag about in California. We're Kentucky, just dumber but with more money and the Mexicans make up for the difference in cousin-fucking.

I mean, I get it. You're doing what I said you do- living to "own the ST Trumptards"- but do you honestly, no troll-mo, think this state is in a good condition so far as its people are concerned?

I already mentioned housing is a big problem, and just like every State, they have problems to deal with. At the very bottom, the homeless issue is exacerbated due to the housing issue, but the only real difference between California and Texas when it comes to them, is that Texas jails them to get them out of the view. That's certainly not a long term solution either, tbh.

Corruption is a country-wide problem, and a serious one. I'm not going to defend or justify it. However, it would be plain silly to pretend there's not as much, if not more corruption in other States. Heck, even the Texas AG is embroiled in a criminal case on corruption charges, and if you dig a bit on the corruption cases in the south of that State, you'll find plenty of corruption to talk about. I lived in NJ for 20 years, same shit, at went all over to the top of government (ie: bridgegate). The difference in California is that it manages a major budget and major money, so numbers are generally bigger.

I am an immigrant, yes, and I've done well for myself, not sure what that has to do with anything, tbh?

Frankly, living in any major city just costs a lot of money. Housing is especially hard to find, and this applies evenly to California as it does to New York, to name a few. When I was in Jersey, a lot of people lived on that side of the river, because they couldn't afford to live in NY. Stratification is an unfortunate part of success.

"But then there was a take counteroffensive.

Many progressives noted that California Attorney General Rob Bonta trounced everyone else in the state’s jungle primary, despite attacks on him for being a squishy, soft-on-crime lib.

Activists pointed (https://twitter.com/sfchronicle/status/1537270746350858240) to the upset victory of Yesenia Sanchez in the race for sheriff of Alameda County, across the Bay from San Francisco, as a sign that “criminal justice reform is alive in the Bay Area.”

Next door in Contra Costa County, progressive District Attorney Diana Becton cruised to reelection (https://www.nbcbayarea.com/decision-2022/contra-costa-county-district-attorney-diana-becton-holds-off-challenger-mary-knox/2913945/) despite strenuous efforts from law enforcement groups to defeat her

Thus if Boudin’s defeat proved that criminal justice reform is a terrible political loser, these data points must somehow mean that criminal justice reform is also a political winner."

conclusion: that none of these races had a larger significance at all about the views of Californians and Americans in general.

55 percent of San Franciscans who voted chose to recall Boudin.

But voter turnout was only about 46 percent,

so just 25 percent San Francisco’s voters actually went to the polls and cast a ballot to oust Boudin.

As for your list, post-goalpost move, I already pointed out which ones I would call poor and which ones I wouldn't. What wasn't clear about that?

Nono,
In between your conversing with dipstick, do you find Gruesome Newsomes gas payment timing to be 100% political?
Not a humanitarian or justice drop in it imo.

:lol give a lot of Californians $1050 but not until just before the November elections.

GreenDot is worth almost 2 billion. Gordon Ramsay is worth hundreds of millions. Do I even need to keep going, I selected two randomly.

What do you consider poor :lol

I mean, we're comparing against California companies, right?

Apple: $2.3 trillion
Google: $1.5 trillion
Facebook: $459 billion
Visa: $425 billion
NVidia: $377 billion
Exxon Mobil: $350 billion

and I won't even bother to list anything below $300 billion, tbh...

Apple alone probably dwarfs your entire list combined... it's just a different league.

As I pointed out, Tesla (700 billion) and GlobalFoundries (15 billion) are probably the only relatively notable on that list, and Tesla specifically the only thing is moving is their HQ. They know who's buying their cars, over 1 out of 3 EVs are sold in California, with Tesla dominating sales:

Drug dealing was a central issue in San Francisco like 5 years ago

Oh, they are way beyond that point today. It's one thing when the poor inner city has crime. People can always work their way outta poverty. But when the middle class is being targeted. Your car will be ransacked and you will be abused on the Metro.
