Agreed. I'd say, at least in my opinion, the whole situation played out as about as well as one could want when a team and player split ways. We picked him late in the first round. He worked hard and improved every year, and then we were able to trade him for some draft capital. Any frustration should be for the wasted DDR years, but that's the past and things are moving in a better direction with at least some semblance of a path. We are drafting well again and we are accumulating picks. Happy for Murray that he moved on to a better situation and our situation is better now, too.

So basically Spurs said we plan to go through a rebuild and DJ said i still want to compete. When two sides have different goals it makes sense for them to part ways and pursue those goals.

In a way DJ did request a trade because his goals did not align with Spurs and they made the best of the situation without burning bridges.

In the end it works out for both parties i guess.
