In the early US republic, guns were registered and inspected. But that was good because of pesky slave revolts or the threat of them.
Gun rights and gun control arose hand in hand in the US.

I didn’t say anything about any amendments.
Law abiders don’t fear the IRS.
:lol
Law scofflaws would not register thereby punish law abiders. Also do not trust government and you and yours. Show me where it says a registry. Change the amendment. We can change them all if that is what you want
How are you being punished by someone else not registered? It's not zero sum. People are buying guns illegally all the time right now, how does that punish you?

Good that you don’t
What am I afraid of?
IRS
Running out of time
Other stuff
You are afraid of taxes? Say how bout you stay off my highways that I pay taxes for while you are on the run?
All these freeloading trumpsters, go figure…
Parasites.

A great solution is for you and your like minded friends to give up your weapons and refrain from buying any. And do not tread on me.
The solution is MOARRR guns
Cuz if everyone has a gun, then no one does

I support gun rights and I believe in the good guy with a gun hypothetical.
Vigilante justice rarely works. And when it goes bad it goes devastating.

It worked for Paul Kersey, he got so even in New York, they ran him off to Chicago.

People talk about holding off an invasion with their guns. The best way to hold off an invasion is with your vote because your freedoms are being taken internally, not from other struggling nations, yet many people who would cry over their gun rights don't even vote.

...and many illegally cross the border and vote, or, originate here and vote many times. This country is no more clean on elections/voting than Russia. We just have a fancier & more State run media.

I thought "pray" came before "stay armed" whenever your team talks about a shooting.
Also one of your team's favorite talking points is that vehicles kill people just like guns do, so why did this guy need a gun?
Will wait for your non response.

The prime minister and regional Australian leaders agreed in a meeting on Monday to work toward even stronger gun measures (https://www.pm.gov.au/media/meeting-national-cabinet-8) in response to Sunday's shooting. Here's what they include:
Renegotiate the National Firearms Agreement, which was enacted in 1996 and established Australia's restrictive gun laws.
Speed up the establishment of the National Firearms Register, an idea devised by the National Cabinet in 2023 (https://www.homeaffairs.gov.au/about-us/our-portfolios/criminal-justice/firearms/national-firearms-register) to create a countrywide database of firearms owners and licenses.
Use more "criminal intelligence" in the firearms licensing process.
Limit the number of guns one person can own.
Limit the types of guns and modifications that are legal.
Only Australian citizens can hold a firearms license.
Introduce further customs restrictions on guns and related equipment. The Australian government could limit imports of items involving 3D printing or accessories that hold large amounts of ammunition.

God bless him. Just think if he had had a gun. He could have taken them both out.in an interesting twist, there's reported to be another hero, a middle eastern asylum seeker, who kicked the gun of the second shooter while he was holding it
A heroic asylum seeker stepped in to help confront one of the alleged Bondi Beach gunmen but was shot at by police and attacked by members of the public.
Footage captured at the scene of the massacre, which took place at a Jewish festival held at the Australian beach on Sunday evening, shows the man running towards one of the suspected attackers who lay injured on a bridge in an attempt to disarm him.
According to his lawyer, Alison Battisson, the unnamed man "kicked away the gun the shooter was still holding".
Police however continued to fire shots at the bridge, prompting the man to duck for cover as he can be heard shouting "don't shoot".

Members of the public then set upon the hero, appearing to mistake him for one of the attackers.
The man has been identified by his lawyer as a Middle Eastern refugee, who has lived in Australia for about 10 years but is on a temporary visa without a guaranteed path to permanent residency, the Daily Mail reports.
He is understood to have an Australian wife and children.
Human rights lawyer Ms Battisson said: This hero is a refugee without a permanent visa. Our client's name isn’t publicly available so we are using AB.

and of course, the Gurmans, who struggled with one of the shooters for several minutes before they were killed
The Russian-Jewish couple were walking along Campbell Parade on Sunday afternoon as Sajid Akram emerged from behind the Islamic State flag on his hatchback.
Dashcam footage from a passing motorist shows Boris, 69, did not hesitate as Akram opened his car door, tackling him onto the road of one of Sydney’s busiest beach boulevards, disarming the 50-year-old and forcing the rifle from his hands.
As others hid behind a bus stop, Boris picked up Akram’s rifle, aiming it at his assailant as other cars drove by, drivers seemingly unaware of the carnage that was about to unfold.
The footage shows Boris momentarily having the upper hand, threatening Akram with his own gun while his wife Sofia, 61, joins him in an attempt to force the gunman to retreat before his planned massacre could begin.
