If you are asking about the inductees:

This year’s class includes two-time NBA All-Star and four-time NBA champion Manu Ginobili, five-time NBA All-Star Tim Hardaway, two-time NCAA National Coach of the Year Bob Huggins, the NBA’s sixth-winningest coach of all-time George Karl and longtime NBA referee Hugh Evans. On the women’s side, the Hall of Fame is proud to welcome five-time WNBA All-Star, three-time WNBA Champion, and two-time Olympic Gold Medalist Lindsay Whalen, four-time WNBA All-Star and two-time Olympic gold medalist Swin Cash and NCAA national champion and WNBA Coach of the Year Marianne Stanley.

Pop could go in any time he wants, he's just declined so far. It's not like the players where you have to retire. Jerry Sloan went in two years before he retired. Larry Brown was inducted nine years before he retired.

People have been talking about pop going in since SA won in 2007, giving him 4 coached championships.

The mathematical argument for the Hof's is retarded. Basketball Hof is not NBA only and also includes women. I'm not going to check but easily 1/3 of the basketball Hof are women and international players who never played in the NBA, this ignorant fuckstick has no idea what hes talking about and I'd bet a thousand bucks he has spent time on his show attacking the likes of AI and Melo for not sacrificing for team success and then comes out and shits on Manu because he doesn't have individual stats and accolades, sadly this is par for the course with most American fans

God I can’t wait for what Manu has to say in his speech. Of the big three, he seems to be juuuuust the best interview in that he’s engaging without being tactless a la TP, media averse a la TD. On a side note, I’ve been rewatching TD’s speech and I gotta say that was the most emotional I’ve seen him, right up there with ‘13 and ‘14.

2001 Euroleage Title
2003 NBA title
2004 Olympic gold medalist*
2005 NBA title
2007 NBA title
2008 Olympic bronze medal

That Olympic gold should count extra as it was a team that was not a traditional power nor loaded as USA was with hall of famers.
Through in a title 2014 where at nearing 37 he was the 3rd leading scorer for the team (albeit by a smidgen)

27 points in the finals

In part in the 02/03 season the Spurs started surging once he became healthy. Not the only reason, but definitely a major factor

I've always felt he was a lock for the hall of Fame.

I knew he was going in when Drazen Petrovic was selected. At the time, they had nearly identical NBA/FIBA careers, with Manu doing better in the Olympics, and Drazen in the World Cup. Their NBA numbers were very close at the time the late Drazen Petrovic was inducted.

Yet, to truly appreciate Manu, it’s important to remember that his daring plays and wild passes didn’t always work, and they never went away. He represents an alternative to the classic sports story of an athlete who excises their bad habits and matures into greatness. With Manu, you never forgot the mistakes—and if you did, he would inevitably soon remind you—but through his sheer force of will and genius, you always got over them.

Perhaps no sequence captures the duality of the Manu experience—the seesaw between frustrating plays and spectacular ones, and his courage to attempt the latter despite the former—better than Game 1 of the 2013 Western Conference semifinals. After appearing to cost the Spurs the game with an ill-advised shot, Manu hit the game-winning 3-pointer in double overtime. And perhaps no quote captures what it felt like to watch Manu better than the one Pop gave after the game: “I went from wanting to trade him on the spot to wanting to cook breakfast for him tomorrow morning. That’s the truth. When I talk to him and say, ‘Manu,’ he goes, ‘This is what I do.’”

Manu made his fair share of boneheaded decisions on the basketball court, and he didn’t always get the chance to redeem himself 45 seconds later. But he never stopped playing hard, he never played with fear, and he never changed. In that sense—the sense that matters—he did “pound the rock.” And after enough hammering, the NBA’s most rigid system bent to reflect its most creative and determined force; because with a player and person like Manu, that’s really the only choice. You can’t split a rock in one blow, but if you angle your mallet a different way, you just might jolt something loose.

a good point, i feel like manu's influence on pop is not really recognized. there are a bunch of players that famously butted heads with pop and manu is the only survivor :lol

In a sense, Karl, although he was inducted into the HOF for his coaching contribution, and having Dean Smith as his ideal coach he looked up to for inspiration during his collegiate time as a player as a Tarheel, but actually, it all began when he cut his teeth as an assistant coach with the Spurs, when after 3 knee surgeries that derailed his 5 year professional career in the ABA with the Spurs! In his speech, he credited Doug Moe and Bob Bass for lighting his coaching career with an opportunity to be an assistant. So, Karl, in a sense, is another name on that short list of HOFers of Spurs family. Congrats Coach Karl on your achivements that earned your induction. The Baseline Bums, whom he gave a shout out to, as well as Spurs fans dating back to the ABA days, salute you! GSG!!!

- Interesting that his comments about Parker, unlike those of Duncan and Popovich, were not about his caliber or character/personality, but about role.

Man, we have been quite blessed with great players. Gervin, Robinson, Duncan, Manu, Tony Parker. Just absolutely love basketball and how it brings out the uniqueness of every player. Hope the uniqueness never stops - Manu will always be one of a kind. I did notice he did not mention Kawhi, or Stephen Jackson. And his comments about Parker - about never letting ego get in the way - I wonder how many of those conversations happened during their career, and hopefully this does not turn into a Last Dance situation where we did not know things were going on during what a great and marvelous run. In Manu, the uniqueness and greatness of the sport is truly shown. Felicidades, y gracias Manu!

The only Last Dance stuff the Spurs have dealt with is from disgruntled role players such as Horry, Jax and also Kawhi granted he's not a role player. I doubt anybody else was miserable playing for the Spurs during the Duncan era. If they were stories would have come out about it by now. There is reason why there is no books written about the Spurs dynastic run because it contained little to no drama.

TP has always been Manu’s ally. He mentioned this in his retirement speech, being the one who truly believed in him, of what he could do, Timmy doubtful of another unheard of guy, Pop trying to change Manu’s style. But TP I imagine always encouraging him, do what he does. In retrospect, TP was very mature at his age, very tough to break at 19, 20 years of age, with Pop barking at him at every opportunity. It was always mentioned as a joke, but it must have been real tough for TP, an international player at a very young age, playing the helm of a championship team as a PG, all that responsibility and not breaking.

Really the planets aligned when Spurs drafted Timmy, Manu, TP and coached by a no-nonsense great Coach Pop. Brent said it the best. Timmy will always be bereaved as the greatest Spur, while Manu is the most beloved. But additionally, Tony unbreakable toughness to win it all. Truly Spurs fans were spoiled to have had those 4 (including Pop) peaked together in San Antonio.

Neph goes in as a Clipper, nor would I accept him as a Spur. DDR as a Raptor. LMA, while I'd love him as a Spur, he spent more time and probably had his best YEARS as a Blazer. He had a great couple of years as a Spur but had 3 or more seasons in Portland.

And to the folks with the laughing emoji on Nono's post, it's quite clear he means after the Big 3 are in...

Was Timmy wearing the same suit he wore for his own induction :lol? That would straight up Tim Duncan move. Millionaire owning one suit when a suit is absolutely required.

Hey man! He got it dry cleaned!

I don’t think they ever do, more like accompany them up the stage, or more like “formally” escort them in in the HOF.

I thought Tim would at least introduce him with a few words, but all I saw on the videos of NBA.com was him walking with Manu to the dais and then sitting there while Manu spoke. I thought I heard one shout out of GINOOBILLLLLI! that might have been Barkley. :clap

He did mention "Patty" but he slips it in really quickly right at the very beginning of that segment.

Sorry I didn't mean to sound insensitive about Karl...cancer took both my parents. Just hard seeing him in that state when he was so lively on the sidelines as a coach. Yeah it's a miracle he was able to get up there and speak. Cancer got my Mom and is an insidious horror.

This is the best I could find:

Although the most emotional moment was when Asked for “a minute” to speak in Spanish and decided to address his family in his native language. ,Seppo and Lee, my brothers, thank you for clearing the way for me, thank you for the inspiration, They pushed me when I was little because I wanted to be like you”, he began before showing a lump in his throat and tears in his eyes.

“Dad, I wish you were here, that you could understand what was happening today. My first faithful and biggest follower, I miss you so much old man, I miss you…”They told yuyo, his father who is going through a delicate health problem. ,Mom: I know you’re looking over there, It took me three sons to understand the sacrifices you made for us for so long. Effort, dedication, love in acts, freedom to choose, thank you mom”, he added enthusiastically.

Forget any mathematical model. From 2001 to 2008 he an incredible run.

2001 Euroleage Title
2003 NBA title
2004 Olympic gold medalist*
2005 NBA title
2007 NBA title
2008 Olympic bronze medal

That Olympic gold should count extra as it was a team that was not a traditional power nor loaded as USA was with hall of famers.
Through in a title 2014 where at nearing 37 he was the 3rd leading scorer for the team (albeit by a smidgen)

True, but if DeRozan so much as receives serious consideration, the entire thing loses all credibility.

Aldridge, if the standards were what they should be, would just miss but given what they are, should just make.

Scumbag will obviously get in, but has among the thinnest bodies of work and the majority of his accolades are dubious and tainted.

I should have said once or twice in his life, not per season. That was unrealistic.

I can also understand why he might not want to be there, but why would they never invite him ever? I'd think they would want one appearance with Barkley just so he can yell "GINOBILI!" to him on the set in person.

It’s not an open invite for great basketball players and Manu has no experience doing this. Why would they invite him? DWade, Candace Parker and Draymond all have deals with TNT.

I thought they had done one-time invites with big name players in the past, but the fact that I can't remember any one-offs means my point is even weaker. KG had his own segment at some point but that wasn't a one-off.

People like Manu who have immense likeability, peer respect, competitive nature, ability to build camaraderie, smartness and verve are generally good coaching material. Except that Manu is extraordinarily competitive and doesn't like to lose. Which is perhaps why he hasn't chosen to be a full time coach. But if he does, he would be a great one if he gets the right team built for him. One guy who could prosper with Manu at the helm would be Keldon, who seems to be as passionate as Manu was, if not as talented or as natural.

I haven't seen anything that indicates that Manu WANTS to go into coaching, nor has he really shown any interest in going into the media.

Yes, he is very personable and probably could succeed at whatever he puts his mind to, but he seems content to just be with his family, travel, and enjoy retirement right now...especially given the health issues with his father.

But that crew could change if Ernie retires, and the honest goofiness of Chuck can't be reverse engineered. He had young kids before he turned 40. People said the same about Tim, and he tried to be an assistant coach but found out he had to actually be at the arena.

Great players are driven, they might go on a hiatus for a year or two but they seem to stay involved in something somewhat challenging.

i think manu is the type to consider raising 3 kids properly extremely challenging, and spending time with family a just reward after 20+ years of living a nomadic team focused life. im sure he'll do things here and there like start a foundation, produce a movie, open a restaurant or whatever. but i dont see him ever putting any serious time or commitment into anything like that again, including coaching. maybe a smaller gig like this year.. or when his kids grow up. but even then i have my doubts, he sounds very content to enjoy his family and free time in his post retirement interviews.
