The paper called it suicide
A bullet from a forty five
Nobody cared, nobody cried
Don't that make you feel sad

Peter Brent combed his hair then sent
For the police
Policeman came, took Peter's name
God may he rest in peace

No one saw the note beside the body
No one knew the problem but my God
He was a suicide
The body remains unidentified
Forgotten in a file
Like the letter that was blown aside
Don't that make you want to smile a while
Smile a little while

For the suicide
Yeah, baby

No one was really satisfied
About number eighty one
The autopsy proved that Peter lied
But they could never find the gun

No one saw the note beside the body
Nobody knew the problem but my God
Suicide

The paper called it suicide
A bullet from a forty five
Nobody cared, nobody cried
Don't that make you want to boogie

Probably an underrated band tbh. But they just didn’t put out enough catchy tunes. Phil Lynott was greatness but their songs were all over the place.

Their Live and Dangerous album is superb. I didn't pay them much notice for a long time, as I was tired of Boys are Back in Town and Jailbreak, but then I heard their version of this and dug in:

Yeah...Boys are Back got way overplayed. I think it was in one of Eddie Murphy's movies. I still like Jailbreak. But I just checked out some more tunes. They were way more than just Lynott. The guitar stuff is amazing for that time period.

Guess who just killed themselves today
Those crosseyed boys that came out as Gay
They haven't changed that much to say
Except for rigor mortis

They were asking if you were around,
Saying they wanted to hunt you down
Put a bullet in your crown..
looks like you got away..

drums

The boys are in the ground
The boys are in the ground..

Wait, that's not the right song.
