He didn’t want to re-sign Verlander, he didn’t even want Peña to start at SS, he didn’t want Peña to hit 2nd in the lineup which Dusty wanted. Jim Crane gave Click 3 seasons to spend big at the trade deadline (but only for the right deal) and he wanted Click to spend in FA. Click was stuck in his Tampa Bay ways. The final straw was Click not going to get a CF at the deadline and trying to trade Urquidy for a rental in Wilson Contreras. Basically, Click wanted to tear down what made the Astros successful.
