I remember back in college a group of us would go there after class and I had a friend who was from Poland

I was going to order some Shypoke Eggs, I said Let me have a half dozen Shypoke Eggs

My polish friend said "No I'm not that hungry, only bring Six"

Huge Hamburgers

The Shypoke Eggs

Man I miss that place :depressed

When I worked downtown, a group of us would go over there for lunch and stay there a couple of hours (because it took so long to eat those giant burgers!)...we'd always wind up staying late at the office that day to make up the time. It was worth it, though. Coronas went down sooo smooth with those burgers, and the fries weren't too shabby, either. Never got into those Shypoke Eggs, but a lot of the people I went there with ate them.

How 'bout Karam's Cantina? Is that place still there? I worked across Dolorosa from El Mercado for about 5 years. Many, many, many strawberry margaritas and banana daiquiris on a Friday evening in that place...mmmmm, delicious!

Little Hipps had the "biggest" burgers but probably not the best. I would say Chris Madrids > Hipps for taste easy. I prefer "the Macho". But Hipps was pretty good.

I went to the new place, Armadillos, a couple of months ago and it wasn't anywhere near like Hipps. In fact it sucked. It was worse than trying to go to that Mexican restaurant called Rajas that was really an old Denny's. It was off I10 near Wonderland for years. Thank God it got demolished.

Ah, yes, Goodtime Charley's. Another old haunt of mine when I was working at Ft. Sam. They also have excellent margaritas. And cheeseburgers. Lots of pleasant afternoons and evenings there when I was a young'un.

When a junior burger is too much for you, you shouldn't be a hamburger taste tester. :lol

Madrids is good and all, but has anyone ever heard Of UNCLE BARNIES? Its connected to the hungry farmer on 35 and sw military. The most delicious, juciest burgers you'll ever taste.

Chester's burgers are the best. Damn good fries as well.

Comming in a VERY close second is Longhorn Cafe's angus burger. Their chicken fried steak, however, is the best in town.

I almost decided to stop at Chester's today, but chose Taco Bell instead. I think I will try Chester's tomorrow if it is really as good as you say.

I like Chester's, but it is my second favorite...IMO, nobody beats Fuddrucker's for burgers.

They haven't burnt one of mine there yet but just knowing there is a possibility means I won't be going back. One of the worst food related sins possible. I don't think I'd be able to handle it. I'd either have some kind of emotional breakdown or go on some type of homicidal rampage.

A restaurant's CFS is the prime indicator of the quality of everything else. Get that wrong and people will move on.

I might have to start a Church of the Everlasting Chicken Friend Steak now.

was that the same a Hipps Bubble Room in a converted corner gas station?

Was that the same as the Bubble Room that had year around Christmas lights and a toy train that ran around the walls of the restaurant?

Just wondering because I thought that the Bubble Room was demolished to make room for a parking lot.

Hipps Bubble Room and Little Hipps were two different places. The Bubble Room was tore down to build a parking lot. Little Hipps continued until about a year ago.

I'm with the midget... Lil Hipps sucked. I ate there once and left disappointed after hearing the hype that it was on par with Chris Madrid's.

Let me take a guess.
1. You are under 25.
2. You where not born in San Antonio.
3. Whoever told you it was like Chris Madrid was a dumbass.
