:lol Pretty random. Kinda feel sorry for the guy since the NBA went away from undersized hustle bigs and that cost him millions. They used to be plentiful in the league up until Steph Curry changed the game and now power forwards have to be able to play outside of the paint.

Should be a good Bassey replacement on the Toros though.

He was a darn good player for awhile. Only an eight year vet? What caused him to be out of the league - I lost track of him.

Timvp answered the question. Thx.

holy shit manimal!

He was good with the Nugs and I always thought he'd be good with the Spurs

Kinda adds some storage depth behind Sochan which SA seemed to be lacking a bit with Roby/KBD not quite there yet

Isn’t this guys game basically the same as Montrez Harrell?

in the template of a milsap or a Harrell

It feels like he should be 45 years old or something.

Classic Spurs reclaim project.

If they took him in they must think they can kick the tires well enough.

Wonder what the staff can resuscitate with Faried, very interesting pick up and after nailing a few other scout outs recently like Bassey I'm intrigued. Prob a longer look see timeline wise. I don't expect much outside of ATX at least at first.

As someone mentioned prob means more about Bassey than Faried as this could just be backfill of Bassey's role in ATX since perhaps the team thinks Bassey looks prime time with the big club forseeably going forward.

Yeah, I think this has practically nothing to do with the mothership. It's always nice to have vets on the Austin team and if Faried is still any good he'll get called up by another NBA team soon enough.

There’s no way for the Spurs to even do a gleague call up. We have a full 15 man roster, and our max compliment of two 2ways. Literally no room at the inn. All of that being said, he doesn’t even fit into today’s NBA. He’s a dinosaur. This looks like a solid by Pop for someone who played for USAB, and might need some visibility to maybe catch on somewhere else.

solid clarification as usual ex

I should lower my expectations a bit accordingly

Still an interesting name to come through and I wish him the best

Antonio Daniels played for the Texas Legends when he was like 35., and there’s no way Dallas was interested in him. The Ignite usually also sign one or two grizzled vets to teach the youngsters about the league, and steady them on the court.

Alize playing team USA qualifiers, Bassey in the main club at least a month and Zimmerman looking fat.

Seems like a guy with his NBA resume could be playing in Europe for more money. Crazy. Bull Durham kind of stuff.

A slightly taller but equally washed up Dejaun Blair. Good luck on the Toros.

How old is he now? When is the last time he played in the NBA?

Why not a backup PG which seems the need? This makes me think Blake will be available sooner than expected. Why is Hall still not replaced when he’s not even good enough to play with shortage of PG?

10000% this

and this is why I don't watch the NBA anymore, and basketball in general is barely playable or watchable

I grew up in an era where driving to the hoop was the priority. Sick crossovers, layups, dunks, fundamentals, in between game stuff like floaters, acrobatic shots at the hoop, learning to absorb contact and score three points the hard way. The only time you shoot a 3 is on a well executed drive and pitch, if your post-up guy (i.e. Duncan, Malone, Shaq, KG, etc) gets double teamed, or in desperation circumstances that call for it.

That was a much better era of basketball... before the Curry's and Thompson's and Chuckbrook's of the world ruined it.

This modern era where dribble dribble chuck a 3 without making an attempt to go to the hoop is encouraged rather than condemned just isn't basketball to me. Ergo, I didn't leave the sport; the sport left me.

The Dennis Rodman, Charles Oakley, Michael Ruffin, Marcus Fizer, Paul Millsap, Mark Madsen, Kenyon Martin, Gary Trent, our very own Malik Rose... Kenneth Faried and even DeJuan Blair types were once part of the game I loved, and now nothing but a nostalgic memory of when basketball used to be great.

If every power forward has to be Toni Kukoc instead of Kukoc being the fun-but-rare exception to the rule, then the NBA is just not good anymore.
