You were always mediocre, but with Wales as a background you looked world class. Hopefully this announcement isn't just to get out of a contract, tbh.

One of the best Wingers of his generation. Only Neymar, Robben and Ribery were better. (Hazard?)

But it always felt like football wasn't life or death to Bale. Technically he had no weakness and almost single handily carried Wales to major Tournaments.

He had a lot of help in Real Madrid, tbh... what else of note has he done? He was 'great' in England when the EPL was the lesser league...

His move to Real was a success but he probably regrets the decision in hindsight. Would have preferred to see him lead a Club. For example not in the same class but Marco Reus in Germany.
