Our first 3 picks need to be offensive line. G/C, G/C, and Swing LT. Then safety, then receiver

I wanna know if the Texans wanted the #2 all along or if Louvie went rogue.

I think the Bears trade down. They aren't taking a QB and they can pick up assets from a team that has a hard on for Young. Ive seen a lot of rage posting from Houston fans about the Texans fucking themselves out of the number one pick, but the gap between Young and Will Levis isn't wide. He's just as pro ready and might even wind up being a better pro than Young.

But it really doesn't matter which QB Houston takes. Neither will save that team from the dumpster fire that is the front office and ownership.

You're not a little worried about the O KY runs? Jones definitely has processing issues despite having a great arm and speed.

Honestly, I don't feel like any of the QB's in this draft are home run hitters. I think Levis, Young and Stroud have flashed potential to be really good but as top five picks all are a bit of gamble. I like Levis for his size, quick release, pocket awareness and intelligence. He feels like Josh Allen lite. But I think for QB needy teams like the Texans, Colts, etc. any of the three are worth taking a chance on.

You guys think GA QB is toast in the pros?
I see Drew Brees similarities, like the timing routes and throws.
He's fast too.

But some linebacker is gonna cruch his ass. Until players like Tua, Young etc learn to give up on plays this injury stuff is going to continue.

To the point, can GA QB make it?

As good as GA was in the title game, I'm not among the masses blowing them after that lucky escape job by Ohio State kickers shank.

Not high on any of them myself tbh, but I agree Levis has the best chance. Honestly wouldn't shock me if all of them end up as career back-ups/journeymen or out of the league entirely by the end of their rookie contracts.

100 percent agreed. Young / Stroud seem like backup types, but you never know someone could pop up and have a Jalen Hurts type arc and get lucky. But I think Hurts goes the way of Lamar Jackson, RG3, Vince Young at some point too. 2022 is the high point for Hurts.

Or they can stand pat and pick BPA which is not quarterback this year just like last year.

Will Anderson is the next Myles Garrett / Von Miller / Micah Parsons imo.

Nah, trading to Colts makes too much sense.

Colts get to choose their guy and Bears get one of Anderson/Carter at the #4 spot plus additional picks to fill out our shit roster.

Poles would deserve to get fired for not trading this pick, imo.

I’m assuming your talking about Stetson Bennett….he will be a really good backup for some team. And I don’t mean that as a slight, having a quality backup that can cover for a game or two if your starter goes down is very important

unless anybody trades ahead of the raiders, they should be able to take whoever is left between Bryce Young, CJ Stroud, and Will Levis. only houston/indy look like teams ahead of them slated to pick a QB. would take something like carolina/atlanta jumping ahead of 7 to throw that off

well before the combine, i started noticing a lot of film guys on twitter saying richardson's tape is much better than his stats led on. combine performance was icing on the cake. he's going top 10. think this is a super interesting QB class at the top, which each guy being pretty darn unique.

i dont really watch college ball during the year, but i do go back and look at game cutups during draft season in years where i care enough to. will probably do more, but ive watched enough for some general thoughts

Young - checks literally every box... except size

Pros: Honestly... he does just about everything well. Pretty accurate (maybe not Stroud levels, but definitely a plus). S-tier anticipation and decision making. His elusiveness and improvisation is otherworldly. He doesnt pile up the rushing yards, but he looks like prime Russell Wilson as far as that ability goes. For a short qb, he has no problem attacking the middle of the field (something Wilson/Murray have struggled with). Solid arm strength too, maybe just below Wilson in that regard. Played in a pro style offense and didnt have weapons like Ruggs/Jeudy/Smith/Waddle the way Tua/Mac had.

Cons: He's small. That's the con. If he was 6'2, 208, he'd be the slam dunk #1 pick and probably would be just below the Luck/Lawrence tier of elite prospects. But he is not only short, but pretty thin, unlike Russell Wilson. Teams have to worry about whether all the traits above will show up given his stature, since he's not as dynamic a runner as a guy like Kyler.

Comp: Russell Wilson is an obvious one. Bryce doesn't have quite the same rushing volume, so you could say he's a smaller/weaker Mahomes

Stroud - is probably the easiest to project as a plug and play starter and hit the ground running

Pros: Very high level accuracy, mechanics, decision making, and prototypical size. While he didnt show much ability to improvise with his feet during his college career, he absolutely went off in his last game against Georgia, a borderline NFL caliber defense, and made play after play with his feet. If that's a part of his game... watch out. His decisiveness is also something that stands out. You basically never see him double hitch a throw. When he decides where he's going, its crisp, clean, and gets out.

Cons: Average arm strength. Played on a pretty loaded team with some insane weapons like Harrison Jr. Generally didnt show he was capable of making any kind of plays with his feet, and plain pocket passers without big arms aren't very sought after. From the sample games I've watched, I also don't know that he shows high end anticipation on his throws. He sorts waits for a guy to make his break and show open before releasing. Think that needs to speed up some in the pros.

Conclusion: Feels like the "safe" pick, and teams will determine how much his performance in the Georgia game matters to them vs the rest of his college career when it comes to his athletic upside. Best fit is probably something like the Raiders where he can step right in and take command of an offense that is "ready to go." Not sure if he's the guy that can elevate an offense from the ashes.

Comp: Depending on whether you buy the mobility upside, you are looking at either Carr/Cousins/Brady sytle of play, or potentially skewing more into Burrow territory as far as accuracy + mobility combo.

Levis - is the new "prototype" athlete at the position

Pros: Size. Absolute cannon arm. Very good mobility/running ability. Showed pretty well despite having to overcome a borderline dysfunctional offense around him. Played in a pro style offense and his last 2 offensive coordinators both previously coordinated NFL offenses, so there aren't concerns about his ability to pick up a complex offense and operate it. Checks the modern boxes of wanting the Josh Allen/Justin Herbert like size/athletic ability. For a guy with a cannon, he also shows the ability to throw with touch, which is kinda rare at the college level.

Cons: Inconsistent accuracy, poor "feel" in the pocket despite his athletic traits. He'll be 24 at the start of the season, so he's had the time/years to clean up his mechanics by now. Also was a low ADOT guy in college (which was also true of Herbert, to be fair).

Conclusion: Weird blend of a guy who is pro-ready in that he should know how to run an NFL offense, but also has that "project" feel because of his accuracy issues and lack of pocket awareness.

Comp: Carson Wentz. Remains to be seen if we are getting MVP caliber Wentz, or Colts/Commanders Wentz

Richardson - this is the fun one

Pros: Arguably the greatest athlete at the QB position we've ever seen. Look at the combine numbers for yourself. Absolute fire-hose of an arm. Some of the impressions I got were watching JaMarcus if he were actually a great athlete too. By all accounts a high character guy and hard worker. He basically had to carry Florida who did not have any good players on offense outside of Etienne. His pre-snap reads are quite good. Despite his insane mobility, he shows the willingness to stay in a collapsing pocket and deliver throws while getting hit. Had to also overcome a pretty rough/predictable scheme with a ton of heavy play action sets where his only reads were deep shots.

Cons: Woof. Obviously very raw/inexperienced. Only started 13 college games. Brutal accuracy numbers. Part of that is Florida had a ton of drops, part of that was an offensive scheme that didn't give him many "gimme" completions to pad his numbers. But part of it was just awful playground footwork. While he can escape/scramble plenty, when he tried to maneuver within the pocket, it was usually pretty ugly with sloppy footwork or trying to just "arm" the ball to the location, leading to most of his ugly throws and interceptions. Most concerning part is that on some of his throws where he misses or air-mailed it, there wasn't even necessarily anything wrong mechanically, so you cant pinpoint how to fix it. Have to hope those are flukes or just something that experience will correct. Generally, just maddeningly inconsistent. He'll have a play where he senses pressure, slides left, steps up, gets his feet planted correctly, and delivers an absolute dime 30 yards down the field, followed by a play where he moves around unnecessarily, has his feet pointing in different directions, and air-mails a wide open receiver on 3rd down.

Conclusion: Far and away the least "pro ready" QB in the group, but he also has some jaw-dropping reps (not including highlight reel athletic runs) where he puts it altogether, makes reads, makes efficient movement in the pocket, and throws perfect passes. He simply needs reps, having played very few games and thrown very few passes (less than Trubisky, even). Decision to take him will come down to a team that believes they can coach him up, and those who believe that teaching him to correct is awful footwork and mechanics (getting shoulders squared, etc), will alleviate most of his accuracy woes. A team that wants to play him early will really have to transform their offense. Basically look at rookie Lamar Jackson, rookie Jalen Hurts, sophomore Justin Fields offenses.

Comp: Everybody will say Josh Allen (as a reason to believe his accuracy can improve with coaching). I think what you want to emulate is Jalen Hurts with a cannon. Daunte Culpepper is another strong comp. But if he is lazy, doesnt take well to coaching, you could just be looking at a faster JaMarcus Russell. His accuracy/inconsistency really looks that scary.

Not a fan of any of them tbh. Gun to my head I'd say Levis since he does give off Allen/Jones vibes but he's just not athletic enough to become what they have. Need to watch more tape on Richardson; physically he's a beast but his stats are mediocre at best.

im admittedly not a college football junkie, so i dont really get caught up on prospects until around this time of year. when i first heard richardson being named among potential first round qbs, and i looked at his numbers, i thought it was kind of a joke like malik willis last year

but the more ive gone back and watched his games (not youtube highlights, obviously), tbh the more impressed i've been with him. think he shows a lot more NFL traits than one would think seeing a 1 year starter with shit stats. i had Young > Levis > Stroud > Richardson for most of the last couple months, but ive really warmed on richardson (not because of combine numbers, we already knew he was a freak, but from actually having gone back and watched some games to look past box). still dont think you'll get anything pretty from him as a year 1 player (we didnt with Lamar, Hurts, Fields, Allen either), but theres something there imho. just depends if a team thinks he has the work ethic to clean up his footwork and stuff.

i read conflicting reports about how well he interviewed at combine. early stuff from mcshay saying he killed it, then zerlein from NFL saying all the qb's were meh in interviews and teams were a bit surprised just how far behind richardson was on the x's and o's stuff, which is another concern obviously, but likely tied to inexperience and not running a pro offense. feel like theres so much projection with Levis anyway that id rather just bet on richardson's actual upside. if the raiders stand pat at 7 and land any of the 4 id be pretty happy though. looking less likely after today

Richardson is a mental midget. Getting him outta the swamp will surely help.

Watched him against FSU was 9 of 27. Made a few extended plays. Seminoles defense this season was just good. Athletically he's not a generational talent. We faced Lamar with a better Defense and he dropped 60 points on us.

Basically a much lower IQ Fields. Ceiling.

FSU game is actually one of the several I’ve seen reviewed. Think he looked significantly better than the box score imo. Pretty deep dive here but vid is quite long. JT O’Sullivan is the best thing on YouTube right now about dissecting qb play. College or pro

team without much cap space, with multiple players seeking big paydays, and having to give their basically free to this point QB a real contract. smart to let some of them go. dillard wasnt starting anyway, let him go. they lost a good linebacker but just drafted nakobi dean last year who should easily slide into his spot, etc.

cant afford to keep everybody, unless you do what the saints/bucs have done and just constantly restructure contracts for temporary cap relief that screws you over later. eagles already restructured a number of players just to get to this point, but dont want to go overboard with it

its basically the same thing no?

from the panthers they wanted 2 firsts, 2 seconds, and DJ Moore

from the raiders they wanted 3 firsts, 2 seconds

bears valued DJ Moore as a 2025 first. panthers actually preferred to send over an additional first, bears insisted they included Moore instead. they wanted an established weapon for Fields

his inconsistent accuracy is a real thing (tho imo, at least 2/3 of it due to correctable footwork), but theres a lot more to richardson than meets the box score. imo, the decision of whether or not a team should take him will come down to how they assess him a person. interview process, speaking to coaches who have been around him. if a team believes that he's going to be a hard worker and coachable, and is not going to rush him out there in year 1... you gotta take him over a guy like Levis. but if he's giving Kyler Murray/Zach Wilson vibes, or late career Cam vibes (i am what i am, deal with it type stuff).... have to be a hard pass

identifying the defense, looking off the linebacker, throwing a strike

1637926403546169344

god-like pocket presence and movement on this play (not just a bail and run guy)

1637960731936329728

another long-form game analysis. recurring theme as far as his negatives are the his inability to use touch on his throws, but he plays with better-than-advertised anticipation and was plagued by a horrible scheme with horrible receiving talent

Bryce has had quite a few AC joint sprains already in college. That is concerning.

He missed 5 games in 4 years with the chargers and they released him after a 16 game season. He had since bounced around and had injury issues. Has been on practice squads. Hasn’t played since 2020

Must've been thinking of someone else then.

Bryce measured at over 200 pounds at the combine but didn’t take part in drills. Then he refused to weigh in at his pro day where he did drills. It’s pretty clear his actual playing weight is well below 200.

i think if it wasn’t for Tuas rough season he’d be the clear cut #1 pick. But the size concern is growing and now looks like Stroud is likely going first

Young is Johnny Football, Stroud is Trashkins, Levis is Tannehill/Wentz and Richardson is Joe Webb / Terrelle Pryor

You're looking at another 2015 QB class at best here. Not high on any of these.

At least Richardson might be willing to convert to wideout when his career at qb quickly dies.

i dont think any of these guys are special prospects (richardson has ridiculous athletic ability, but as a prospect right now he's definitely not special). but the QB class last year was historically poor, so teams are starving for prospects. last year was probably the weakest qb class since at least 2013 (ej manuel, geno smith, mike glennon, matt barkley were the first 4 off the board)

within this class, bryce young is in a tier of his own to me, but he's not some special generational prospect, or even in the burrow tier of prospect. burrow was the consensus #1 in his draft, but there were still questions about him being a 1 year wonder, being elevated by a stacked set of position players, and having below average arm strength, so he wasnt seen as an all timer prospect the way lawrence/luck were hyped to be

ive never been as high on stroud as the consensus, but i definitely think he's a better prospect than Haskins was coming out of OSU a few years ago

right now the biggest question of the draft appears to be what happens with the #3 pick. if AZ stays at 3, will anderson is the consensus pick, but with more teams warming up to anthony richardson, it looks like there might be a race to #3 before the colts pick a qb at 4. seattle is a very common speculated trade partner. its also possible the colts try to move up 1 to secure who they think is "their guy."

lions/raiders also potentially in play

could be the first time in NFL history that 4 QBs are taken top 4, oddly enough in a year that isnt a particularly great QB class. but again, demand for QB is very high because last year was historically bad

while theres some variation in mocks that ive seen, i'd say over 3/4 have Stroud going #1 and Young going #2

yeah just from watching highlights and then seeing box scores, my initial thoughts on him at the start of the process was "oh boy, another malik willis/trey lance overhyped prospect"

but the more of his game stuff i actually watched, the more advanced his actual quarterbacking seems. he basically has to completely redo his footwork and it will take time until that becomes muscle memory, but he's not as far away as people think, at all

other takeaways from watching florida after the fact is how atrocious the receivers were. struggled separated and drops galore

my wish list at #7

1) QB preferably Richardson then Levis. i also wouldnt be made if we gave up some capital to move up for Richardson
2) Jalen Carter
3) Devon Witherspoon
4) trade down. the other options i've seen here are taking the other corner, Christian Gonzalez or going OL with Skoronski. im not a big fan of using #7 on either of those guys, which is why I fully expect they will take on of those two, or maybe Paris Johnson

I haven’t done enough research for a full one round mock without just copying other mock drafts. Spent almost all my time looking into the QBs despite having every sense the raiders won’t take one

my top 12 mock draft, with no trades

1 - Panthers: Bryce Young. Best qb in the draft. Day 1 player. In the Wilson/mahomes style of play, just less physically gifted than frankly either

2 - Texans: Will Anderson. I had them going qb most of the way, but all the big media guys saying it’s very unlikely. They have another pick at 12 and can either take a qb there or move back up for another one. They take the sure thing edge player first.

3 - Cardinals: Paris Johnson. I think they really wanted to trade out of this pick but the league isn’t valuing the qbs as highly as once thought. Cards finally get OL help to support Kyler. Clean tackle prospect

4 - Colts: Will Levis. Most have stroud as qb2 but reason to believe colts brass are big believers in athletic profile at qb. Levis also fits their identity of being run and play action heavy. He’s also more pro ready than Stroud imo having played for two separate NFL offensive coordinators in pro style offenses. Day 1 starter over minshew

5 - Seahawks: Jalen Carter - Arguably the best player in the draft. Seattle seems like a great environment to manage his off field issues. Carroll loves these kinds of opportunities and they get a young monster to help restore their defense

6 - Lions: Devon Witherspoon. Gonzalez has better measurable a but Witherspoon is the better prospect. Very skilled, versatile, loves to play with fire and physicality. Fits the lions need and identity under Campbell

7 - Raiders: Pete Skoronski. While I would be pounding the table for Richardson, i don’t get the sense the raiders will do that. Skoronski is the best lineman in the draft but not the cleanest tackle. Think Brandon Scherff. A pretty safe, ground rule double type pick. The raiders do need interior OL help and he can wind up being the RT after a year or two as well

8 - Falcons - Tyree Wilson. I think QB is tempting but they are signaling confidence in Ridder and probably don’t rate these guys high enough to convince them otherwise. They’ve been completely retooling their defense but they need a good young edge across recently signed Calais Campbell

9 - Bears - Broderick Jones. They traded out of number 1 because they believe in Fields. They have acquired DJ Moore to be his #1, and they draft the best remaining LT prospect to keep him upright.

10 - Eagles: Nolan Smith. A lot of people are assuming they take Bijan, but their front office is pretty sharp. They know they will likely continue to hemorrhage defensive players year after year in free agency so they continue to stockpile at the edge. They don’t have a pressing need anywhere really.

11 - Titans: Anthony Richardson. I think the timing sucks here, because Richardson being groomed to take over a role on an offense with AJB and Henry seems amazing. Buy Brown is gone, and it looks like Henry won’t be around long. But Tannehill is a hell of a role model for Richardson to try to model his game after to reign in some of his bad impulses. My favorite player in the draft finds a home.

12 - Texans: CJ Stroud. They thread the needle here. They get Anderson at #2 and still get the QB they probably like the most. I don’t think he starts day 1 and they probably want to ensure they have legit receiving talent before throwing him out there. But you are hoping he becomes more Joe Burrow and less Derek Carr as far as his ability to deal with pressure.

Howie Roseman and John Fetterman of the Eagles... who are better than... the eagles!!! ....have traded up to the 9th overall pick. With the Bears. I don't get the idea of trading 1 pick ahead rather than 2. Seems like a waste of that 4th rounder. The Bears always seemed to be involved in these, just like they were on the other side with Trubisky in 2017. Kind of more of a Fetterman move than a Roseman or Nick Sirianni move, tbh. :lol

With the 9th overall pick, the Eagles select... Jalen Carter. Probably the best pick in the draft. I give the selection an "A". But only docked a half letter grade because of trading 1 pick ahead which is stupid. If they had stood pat and got him at #10, it would have been the A+ pick.

Eagles sure know how to pick good players in bad draft classes... look at 2013.

Yeah, but he's not heavy and big enough to hold up the way Henry has. He's built pretty much exactly like Zeke. He'll have a couple good years but you can make a strong argument he won't because the Falcons offensive line is one of the worst in the NFL unlike, say, the Cowboys in the early Zeke years or the Eagles since pretty much forever.

lefty20 the Bears were always drafting an O-lineman. Not Jalen Carter. Monsters of the Midway is over... the team is Justin Fields. By far their biggest flaw for a long time running has been OL. Hopefully he pans out and isn't another first round bust lineman.

Packers overdrafting a bigger 3-4 DE... he's not gonna be Clay Matthews, he's def going to be more Dean Lowry than a Matthews type. Definitely a 2nd round pick and a big time reach for a team and franchise that's rapidly going down the shitter.

IMO, drafting Levis was a no brainer for them. Drafting 2nd round talent Lukas Van Ness at 13th overall is a D- at best pick. :bang

People said these exact things about Zeke.
And they were vindicated after 2016...

But it was all downhill from there.

Similar goes for Leonard Fournette the very next year... 2017... who had one stellar year and an even worse career than Zeke, though he did win a championship ring as a committee back with the Bucs.

Steelers acquire 14th pick from Patriots, draft an OK offensive tackle at 14th, Broderick Jones. Not super impressed with him either. "C" grade pick, especially considering the trade-up. Yes they need to rebuild the o-line but not the best draft for that.

The draft is so heavy at certain positions like DT and TE and so light at others like exterior offensive linemen.

Millennial_Messiah

Will McDonald off the board to the Jets. Rodgers probably wanted a receiver, but McDonald is a good player... but he's a tweener like a present day Micah Parsons. Will the Jets play 3-4 and let him rush the passer (his best strength), or will they keep the 4-3 in place and relegate him to off ball linebacker duty? That's the question.

"B" pick for the Jets imo... could be a Myles Jack or Jaylon Smith but could be a Micah Parsons.

... :lol nope

Bucs draft Calijah Kancey at 19.

They drafted a guy who is red chip at best at DT, not even one of the best DTs remaining, probably a day two talent guy. Sure they had a hole to fill at DT next to Vita Vea, but that's an odd pick and a bit of a reach. He was productive in college but against inferior competition. He might be a solid three-tech but he'll never be Aaron Donald or Jalen Carter.

Yeah, if they had tagged Geno Smith instead of paying him big money, that would have made sense.

04-27-2023, 09:37 PM
Njigba for Seattle projects as a slot receiver. Too slow (over 4.5) and too short (5'10") to be a "Z" receiver across from "X" Metcalf.

Maybe the Seahawks are planning to unload Tyler Lockett, which doesn't make sense.

Millennial_Messiah
04-27-2023, 09:42 PM
Here comes the run on receivers and pass catchers.

Like that pick (Quentin Johnson) for the Chargers at #21. He's basically another Mike Williams, who is arguably elite, so the Chargers now have two of them with Keenan Allen in the slot. Not a speed receiver, but having two Mike Williams isn't a bad thing. Comps to Dez Bryant and Mike Williams very well.

Millennial_Messiah
04-27-2023, 09:49 PM
And the receiver run continues... Zay Flowers to the Ravens at 22... probably the best pure "Z" receiver in the draft, as he ran 4.4 at 5'10". Maybe the Hollywood Marquise Brown replacement that the Ravens needed since trading him to AZ. OBJ is probably a slot receiver at this point in his career.

Who's Minnesota going to take? Invest in Cousins, or replace him with someone who's been comped to him?

Four receivers in a row... nice. Jordan Addison WR to Vikings at 23. Good slot receiver in the NFL... won't be more than that. Again, won't have to be a #1 obviously with future HOFer Justin Jefferson at "X" receiver.

Will Levis still on the board.

Giants and Jags traded.. again a one-spot trade, second of the night... that's a head scratcher. Them and Jacksonville obviously aren't going QB, so Levis will be on the board at #26 if Jerruh wants him.

Giants select cornerback Deonte Banks at #24... decent corner, probably 2nd round talent.

Cowboys actually went with the Vita Vea nose tackle pick. :wow We take Mazi Smith, 3-4 Nose tackle, at #26. I actually like it. A- pick imo, it's definitely a change of pace.

That's really the surprise of the night. When's the last time we've taken a nose tackle before day 3? Definitely not in the Jerruh era.

He's probably the best of his kind since Vita Vea... Dexter Lawrence (NYG). He's not going to get a ton of sacks but he'll get 5-6 sacks per year and absolutely demolish the run. 6'3" and about 350 pounds and quick. Michigan players make good NFL defenders. He's a monster.

Millennial_Messiah
04-27-2023, 10:28 PM
We're building this 3-4 defense. Got a good rotation going now with Mazi Smith and Hankins at nose, bunch of guys who are undersized at NT but can play DE well like Gallimore, Odighizuwa, Golston et al. Even Lawrence can kick inside and play 5-tech DE especially on passing down and distance. We still have the elite deep pass-rushing OLB corps in Parsons, Williams, Armstrong, Fowler.... (& DeMarcus Lawrence on the regular base downs)

Not the most talented player on the board, but makes perfect sense considering that we've consistently been one of the worst run defense teams in the past 5-6 years or so.

They should draft a decent OL prospect in the next round or two, dunno if it would have been worth it at 26. Parsons was happy, that is probably the most important thing tbh.

Was also pretty surprised by Houston not taking Anderson at 2, then trading right back up and getting him. Must be a little satisfying to see them be aggressive like that

I'd take left guard Steve Avila at 58 if he's there for sure. He can also play center if necessary as he did so in college, but that wouldn't be ideal.

I'm pretty stoked with the 3-4 Nose Tackle pick (Mazi Smith) because that's a position we have neglected literally my entire lifetime... last time they drafted a DT of any sort in the first round was 1991, a couple years before I was born. They won 3 of the next 4 super bowls after that pick, too. Stopping the run is the team's biggest achilles' heel and it has been for at least 5-6 years, and arguably the last 10-11 years. Last time they were actually solid against the run was in the Wade Phillips era.

So glad we didn't pick a tight end or a halfback in the first round.

But you are hoping he becomes more Joe Burrow and less Derek Carr as far as his ability to deal with pressure.
no mock is perfect, but this wasnt too bad

hit Panthers getting Bryce
hit Texans getting Anderson and Stroud (in different spots)
hit Cardinals taking Paris Johnson
hit Eagles taking Nolan Smith (at different spot)

had Colts taking a QB, just wrong one. same with bears going OL

i didnt think Carter would fall that far. kudos to the eagles man, their GM is the best in the business when it comes to trading and drafting. while i wanted the raiders to swing at qb, Richardson wasnt available. im glad they didnt reach for Christian Gonzalez. i expected them to go OL, but Wilson is a fine pick too. i would have preferred Carter at that spot, though

i was lukewarm on him as a top 10 pick. wouldnt have been mad due to positional value. but id love for the raiders to be able to snag him in the 2nd round. taking Tyree Wilson and Levis in the first has same vibes as getting Mack and Carr in 2014.

i mean hit rates on QB is generally low. but better to take swings than not to take swings.

cardinals drafted josh rosen. didnt work out. 1 year later took kyler, who had been a big improvement (looks like he has personality issues that are stunting his development tbh)

you dont want to be the jaguars passing on mahomes/watson because you feel content with bortles. if qb has a 25% hit rate and you only draft 1 qb every 3-4 years, could be a loong time until you find the guy. if you draft one every 1-2 years, you'll probably find yours sooner

Eh. B- draft by the raiders.

I just fundamentally disagree with them not being aggressive with the top qbs. Would have loved a move up to take Richardson. But Texans gave such an absurd haul to AZ for freaking will anderson that it probably wasn’t feasible. Not moving up to grab Levis… they just seem oddly confident in Jimmy G and i don’t buy that vision

as far as actual picks, Tyree Wilson is fine (preferred Carter, but Raiders probably highly sensitive to a guy with a driving incident after Ruggs). Made sense to grab Mayer in a loaded TE class after dealing Waller.

But they had a stretch where 2 of their 3 picks (third rounder + two 4ths) went to a speed/gadget receiver and a backup qb in O’Connell. Just seemed like bizarre priorities given the state of the team. We should have left this draft with more than 1 corner and at least one interior OL so those seemed bizarre.

The player quality was mostly fine, just an overall approach i can’t get behind
