Leading the free world during wartime and reporting for jury duty are both important public service responsibilities.

While most would agree that serving as president of the United States is more pressing than serving as foreman of a jury, McLennan County officials are waiting for Crawford resident George W. Bush, potential juror number 286, to respond to a summons to report Monday for jury duty.

"It is not uncommon that people don't respond for jury duty," said 19th State District Judge Ralph Strother, to whose court the president has been summoned. "It is unique having the president in this situation, so I have never faced this issue before and I am not sure what is going to happen. I am assuming at some point that we will hear something from somebody on his behalf."

White House spokesman Allen Abney said the commander-in-chief was not aware of the situation: "The White House has not received the summons yet."

Isn't ignoring a Jury summons a violation of STATE law? I wonder how that excuse would fly for you and I.

Aren't you glad that GW not being there would mean that a criminal will escape the punishment of a racist white heterosexual system to oppress the indigenous and the black race. Owwwah!(intro to token RATM song)

"Ignoring", and asking for a new date are two very different things.

It works for me whenever I get summoned and need it to.

Yes the president of the US should put his job aside and serve on a jury.

As much as I dislike Bush, I think he has more pressing matters he needs to attend to right now.

^^^ What exactly is he tending to though? As much as he's not in the White House, the country is better off. Permanant vacation for Bush. :tu

He didn't ignore the summons you dumbass.. His office rescheduled it.

This is fucking bullshit... You can't have a small court and have the staff worry about president. No one would get a fair trial.

Come up with a better compliant. This ones fucking weak.

This is the kind of crap that polarizes and splits the country. I read in here the other day that Bush had split the country over all sorts of things. Now the great one "DAN" shows his true colors. Way to go Dan. :lol http://img224.imageshack.us/img224/1417/cid32147410503290895ss.jpg (http://imageshack.us)

I can't even believe this thread. If he were to report to jury duty, you would say something to the effect of "How can this idiot report for TX jury duty when our country is in a useless war !"

You are too much

I wish I was the attorney in a case where Bush was on the jury panel, so I could ask the panel "How many of you have ever needlessly led a country into war?"

Some of you people are such idiots - you let your hatred for the President overrule any common sense. I mean, get real - can you imagine the security needed if the President were to serve Jury duty. Then you guys would be complaining about the tax dollars wasted to have the Secret Service protect the president and the additional security checks for everybody involved in the trial.

Find something more important to whine about!!

Oh, Gee!!

You're right, our time is much better spent talking about how many people show up at Ann Coulter's and Sean Hannity's book signings.
