Pretty sure the 1989 reference is way wong year. Doubt Ratt was still doing demos in 89.

3. This is on Ratt's "Rarities" album, released in 2007, and it's labeled on that album by Ratt as having been from 1989.

Ratt's EP from before they had a record deal is the best thing they ever released. The first two albums are okay. But it all starts to blend together eventually.

They are a glam metal era parody band.
Altho they are very good musicians. Seriously, they are. I've heard them live and know a couple members. The lead singer has a Masters degree in English. (no shit)

It's all good bro. I love me some Motley Crue. My brother is a bit older than me and loves the genre too. I'm just talking shit like I do with him. I am not really a hipster douche. Or try not to be at least.

Steel Panther is a mildly amusing bit, but it's kind of like pointing to a Weird Al medley to suggest polka is as popular as it's ever been.

It was crazy how quickly the hair bands became irrelevant. I saw Warrant playing a small bar in Dallas in like 1998. Everybody was shouting "Cherry Pie" after the 2nd or 3rd song. I was depressed for them. Those bands are doing much better today as nostalgia acts.

OTOH, Def Leppard probably could've survived the grunge thing in the 90's. Adrenalize was still huge in 1992 and all of their videos still got played on MTV. But then they released a B-sides compilation in 1993 and tried to hop trends with the Slang album. Bon Jovi stayed pretty relevant even in the deadest years for arena rock.

Guns n Roses was still huge with the Illusion albums and videos, but they self destructed. Motley Crue got a new singer so no one cared. Skid Row hired Bob Rock to try to do an album that sounded current, and then Bach got kicked out of the band. Warrant's Dog Eat Dog album was really good but they were imploding at the time as well and the label wasn't helping.

The labels and radio stations moved on but a lot of the hair bands inflicted their own wounds because they were either spoiled egomaniacs or they were abusive trainwrecks, or a combination of both. My favorite station in the early 90's played a combination of grunge and metal and I never thought it was a disconnect to hear a Ratt song followed by Alice in Chains followed by Metallica followed by Whitesnake.
