They played great defense and ran a real offense for the first time in like a decade. And who exactly is the candidate that is better? There's no one out there that is established that is available. I agree its not a sexy hire but all circumstances considered it's the right move. Texas recruits itself on one end and good recruiters and success do the rest. He has a good narrative to sell recruits in the season that just happened.

The biggest problem imo is Texas is not a blue blood in basketball. I’m not sure how to get over that perception because it’s warranted.
