I thought the 2007 Spurs team went through some pretty good teams. Now that you've listed some of those players/teams, that was a pretty good run. Some of those players may have been past their peak, but there is still some great names there and some of them were at their peak. Even if Spurs fans (I don't care about other fans' opinion on the 2007 team) are saying it's the weakest team, I'm assuming they're referring to it being the weakest Spurs team. I think the 2007 Spurs team as a whole was a pretty good team. Those other teams we went through that year could easily be Championship contenders if they had of played right now.

Also, were you saying 2007-2014 TP was at his best/prime? If so, yeah, I'd agree with that. He went on a pretty good run during those years. 2009 is a season that is very interesting to me as he was amazing that year, but didn't get to see how he could have gone through a long playoff run with Manu being out and TD with the injured knee playing on one leg against the Mavs in the first round of those playoffs. I think TP might have had an incredible run that year in the playoffs if the rest of the team was healthy. Might not have went all the way or anything, but would have loved to have seen what TP could have done in those playoffs with the form and level he was playing at.

Agreed Ice, once you write it all out those were some pretty big names to go through for the 07 ring. Makes it seem a bit more hefty I suppose. Melo was still very motived in 07 and I'd say Amare was pretty unstoppable.

Yeah I thought Parker turned a corner around 06 or 07 and went scorching hot through 2013. I think Parker was on the cover of NBA Live 09 even. Wonder what could've been if full strength but losing to DAL so soon in Playoffs 09 was devastating.

Plus remember Parker was playing French ball in the summers off so there were stretches 09-13 where he was basically playing basketball full year round. I thought we were going to win, but I paused for a tiny bit because wasn't that the season where Lebron went insane against the Pistons scoring something like 25 points in a row the series before? I wasn't sure how he was going to play in the finals, but the Spurs were able to play great team defense on him and do a better job than Detroit did (which further proved to me that the Spurs' defense (despite the numbers being similar to Detroit) was better than the Pistons' like I always thought back then).

Not sure I have seen Charles blowing his own horn. I watched his entire career. He was my favorite player before I was a Spurs fan. I can tell you he was a very good defender. He wasn't elite, but he played defense because he wanted to win.

He routinely defended the other team's best player. guys eight inches taller and 50 pounds heavier. Barkley and Mahorn on the Sixers were all about defense. Chuck checked Jordan until he went to the Suns, and Majerle only defended Jordan until crunch time.

Barkley was far and away the dirtiest player in the league. That wasn't because he didn't care about defense.

What are you even trying to say? Do you even know what I said? I was comparing defensive stats of Barkley to elite defenders of his era and it’s not particularly close.

Barkley didn’t play much defence because he was often his entire teams offence. Especially during the later Philly years. Look up any stats and it’s clear that Barkley was a middling defensive player throughout his entire career. He even admitted to it himself. What else do you need?

Not a great defender but he was at times a good defender especially during his time as a 76er. He was averaging a block and a steal or two every season for that team. But that wasn’t all. He got defense rebounds. His power kept his man from getting second chance points. He got into other player’s heads.

One thing he did well was get you into foul trouble. This is actually smart defense. Best example of this was the 1993 WCF game 6. While the officiating was suspect, Sir Charles got to Shawn Kemp. The Reign Man fouled out.

Pop played Lonnie on the opponent's top player for a year, because he constantly missed rotations, and you don't rotate off of that guy. Just because you suck at team defense doesn't mean you're a great man defender.
