View Full Version : Time to bring back DeMar DeRozan ?

objective

Some rumors about that the Bulls are now willing to go for a tear down.

Could DeMar be an under the radar target for the Spurs as lead playmaker?

They might be able to get him for just giving the Bulls their pick back so their ledger is cleaner.

Pop did seem to love DeMar and there's better shooters and defenders to have around him. No surprise that his reputation as a player among the media went up once he got in a big market.

Is it totally insane or just like a 48 hour psych hold kind of wacky?

Demar Derozan is where the basketball goes to die. A month of watching DD pound the air out of the ball for 20 seconds will have Wemby demanding a trade.

No coincidence that we missed playoff with him. Bulls missed playoff with him. He's getting older. So it's not getting better

He'd definitely slow down Devin's growth. Hard pass, an thats coming from someone who loves DD.

Would you eat your own puke? That is how I see it. To answer the question, no thanks.

No, project's timeline is different from the spurs being built right now

He's a good guy, but basketball wise... not needed.

Nothing about what DeMar did in Chicago has me thinking, "Yeah, we should try that again"

The ball stops at Demar. With our current roster, there is potential good ball movement. And yes Demar would stun the growth of our young core as potential goto scorers.

He will become DeFrozen in the playoffs.

There are certain players that always shrink in the playoffs...e.g. Harden, Embid, DeFrozen, Julius Randle etc
While there are other players that will go into playoff mode...e.g. Nephew, Jimmy Freaking Bulter, Rondo, etc

Damn Jimmy Butler. I was going to reply on an old thread back in 2011. I think it was Tim Drunken? who was on point calling him, potential steal of the draft but ST people dismissing that we already had Danny Green. :lol

I’d love to have derozan. But only if Forbes, belinelli, and damare Carroll are included in a package deal.

Spurs need 3 point shooters everywhere. They were terrible shooting last year and Wemby doesn't even come close to solving it. Moreover, as currently constructed, there will be issues spacing the floor with any variation of the starting line-up.

Basically, no to DDR.

The forum's fascination with past Spurs is hilarious. Dude was a blackhole here, and in Chicago. Why would you want a guy who can't hit the three ball taking touches from Wemby?

Kevin

Only if the Bulls wanted to salary dump him and modified the protections of the pick the Spurs own. Then maybe.

Demar Derozan should be barred from playing in the NBA

Good person, values the community, teammates like him, talented in the midrange, high usage, bad for spacing, bad defensively, has never been a difference-maker.

Thanks for the memories Demar, we’ll always remember you as part of the Mid 3.

But let’s not go back there.

LOL. No. Never.
What's next? Centerpiece Keith Bogans?

Yeah, I figured it was crazy.

It began as a thought exercise regarding the Bulls pick, which I confused with the protections on the Charlotte pick. If they tank a lot it loses a lot of value and becomes a second, but looking now it's not as tanktastic as the hornets pick

But thinking about if it was due to drop in value, I thought about giving it back to the Bulls for something. I've had similar thoughts with an Atlanta pick, either to swap with Atlanta to get someone they really like at 15 or Capella.

I'm not a DeRozan fan and was happy when he left. This was basically a result of thinking ... There's no point guards other than Van Vleet, who I don't like, out there to get. FVV on a 4 year deal at his age would likely be a bad investment. DDR is on an expiring, piles up assists and handled the ball most of the time in Chicago without Lonzo, seems possible at the least, and would preserve some future cap space.

It's crazy trade and free agency speculation season, I have a lot more where that came from :lol

What is restrictions on the Bulls' pick?

I kinda see your point... maybe bringing him back was also a thought of mine. But really, I have to agree with a lot of the posters today. Once you play it out in your head it's a hard pass unless you want to stunt the team's growth.

If the Bulls are looking blow it up the Spurs could be inclined to include a protected draft pick in a three team deal involving DDR in exchange for making the 2024 pick unprotected. It worth watching if the Bulls start over with the Spurs abundance of draft picks and cap space and partial control of the 2024 pick.

The Bulls and Spurs are natural dance partners in a three team deal.

Thanks. Do you think that pick will convey? I really don't know if the Bulls are going to blow it up or not.
