dirk made his career being a 7 footer knocking down fadeaways. when you are taller, those shots are even more difficult to contest. durant does this very well too. even contested shots can basically be free throws once he gets better at them

did you see the post earlier about how the team sucks? they literally have to. The spurs have a decent C , have plenty of time to get a better C. The spurs will play much more often then the euro team and avoiding wear on wemby is pretty ideal.


As i said last time, wemby can play C, but as a fluid athlete, mythically talented shot blocker, putting him on the permiter in the NBA's permitter based game is a fantastic plan. Let him shadow the best player , not bang down low tryying to maintain foot work.

Pros- Can get a shot off whenever he wants, made some tough shots look effortless, looked vocal out there with teammates, conditioning looked top notch.

Game are 40 min, slower, more tactical, less iso and one-on-one. And he's a team player. Luka was "putting" 12pts and 5 ass at the same age in the spanish league and averaged 10 and 4 in the Euroleague.

The same reason players don't put up 30/20 on college. Less minutes, slower pace, less spacing, rules that don't favour offense as much. At this point it is a well known fact that offense comes easier on the NBA.

Is that what DAF is implying? I think he’s just saying Wemby’s not the type of guy that will bring up the ball full court as often as people were saying on here as we saw in today’s game— he was quick to give it to his point guard when he got the rebound and was super reluctant to even dribble as soon as he saw his guy swarming him before he even reached half court. IMO, he played exactly like Duncan today (sprinkled with 3’s), I didn’t see him running point at all in the half court set so this isn’t even a debate really… except by those guys who think he’s gonna come in and play like Doncic.

Probably matchup dependent, but I dont want to see him bodied constantly. There are a lot of thicker players shorter than him only too happy to lay elbows into his lower back and bang his knees and hips. That shit takes its toll over time.

Zach Collins or Sochan doesn't make much of a difference to me because Collins can easily interchange positions with Wemby both on offense and on defense. The problem for me comes with the idea of pairing Wemby with a more traditional center, like a Poeltl, which a lot of folks here are proposing. That kind of pairing would be taking away from the things that Wemby does best.
