Some nice insights on how the FO, Coaches, and owners determined to rebuild a championship franchise, using a different style of play, versatile players, and focusing on the 2023 draft by acquiring draft picks via trades while accepting losing seasons. Oh, yeah, by building a state of the art technological training center set to open this year. If true, this article shows the Spurs brain trust as the most brilliant group of team executives EVER.

Fortunately, the article doesn't defy belief by pretending that the Spurs had some mystical plan to get the first spot in the 2023 NBA Draft with Wemby in the offing.

On the other hand, what if the FORCE is with us and God IS a Spurs fan?

During the summer of 2021, the club completed a sign-and-trade deal that sent DeRozan to the Chicago Bulls in exchange for Thaddeus Young, Al-Farouq Aminu, a first-round pick in 2022 (that became Branham) and two second-round picks. San Antonio moved White the following February to the Boston Celtics for Josh Richardson and Romeo Langford in addition to a top-four protected pick in ’22 (Blake Wesley). The club also received a 2028 first-round pick swap in that deal.

Months later, San Antonio traded All-Star guard Murray and Jock Landale to the Atlanta Hawks in a deal that landed first-round picks in 2023 and 2027 in addition to a 2026 pick swap.

Terrible writing for nba.com. Items in red are incorrect. The Boston pick was Wesley. The Branham pick came from the Toronto Thad Young trade. The ATL picks are 2025,2026swap,2027. There was never a 2023 pick involved.

Yeah, the research they put into this article must have been less than the time it took them to type it. Should have left it to AI tbh.

I think the 2023 pick is Charlotte that has been pushed back to next year.
