Spurs' plan for this summer after winning the lottery was doing nothing... and they're basically doing nothing.

Saying that, I think that staying pat is a good move by Spurs and taking a year to evaluate the roster is fine (especially given how bad the FA class was).

Regarding these two signings:
-$20M/2 years for Tre is a really nice deal for Spurs.
- I wonder how much guaranteed $ there are in the Champagnie deal. 4th year is a team option but the 3rd year might also be non-guaranteed.

Where does this leave us on reaching the floor? About 10m shy?

Now bring back Mamu. I think 2-3 years at 2 million per is a good contract.

Tre is an A for sure.

Like the Champ deal too overall but I say B because we don’t know if shooting is real and we don’t know if 3rd year is optional so there’s a *little* risk but not much.

If it’s front loaded where most of money is year 1 and/or option is year3? It’s an A as well

I assume they are going to extending Vassell soon. His deal will probably be more than Keldon’s.

Not so sure. If he looks around and suddenly decides he wants Desmond Bane kind of money, then I could see the Spurs doing what Philly did with Maxey and not extending him right away. If he's more reasonable, then yes, an extension will be reached sooner. But if he wants to get paid top dollars, he's probably going to have to prove in on the court first.

Bane comes from two good seasons ( the price still really high), same with Maxey and i don't see Vassell, who did not have a good and complete season already, commanding something near Bane's deal. Imo the best opportunity to sign him will be before the season in the 20-25 range, more 25 than 20.

Good wedding day deal for Tre. He gets to bet on himself in two years as well.

Champagnie showed some decent basketball chops beside shooting with defense, passing, some rebounding. He has a cheap deal alongside Bassey's cheap deal. The length of each is pretty intriguing.

There is a cost for doing nothing.

The cost on missing on making a great trade or free agent signing or a quality draft pick and wasting a year of development of getting that player on the roster. Also perceived future draft picks may also lose value when they convey at lower draft positions.

if its a minimum contract, what's the risk exactly

It’s low risk but if his shooting isn’t for real he’s not worth even slightly above min and he eats up a little money. It’s really low risk so I like the deal but 3 years for guy who isn’t for sure is a little risk to me.

Any chance Champagnie goes to the Summer League?

I liked both signings at the price point and length of contract.

I hope we don’t waste money on Mamu, then go out and get a veteran backup point guard and center. I think Julian will have a solid year with us.
