Yeah the Spurs org doesn't have any history of someone driving under the influence before.

He's a role player. His suspension won't be felt. I see him as further back in the rotation than some in here do.

I'll be surprised if he even makes the cut at this point

i never watched him before last year, but looking at his stats he had a couple real good statistical seasons in Charlotte now he's becoming a journeyman at 28

This was from an arrest in July 2022.

Doesn't change the terms of his suspension, and the optics surrounding it.
The Spurs have like 20 guys signed right now...the dude with a pending suspension and drinking problem is probably on the hot seat

Still got Payne and GLeague Wesley. IIRC the Spurs had Flasher on the team even after they were aware of his issues and had him seek professional help until he exposed himself again and they had to cut him. Doubt this means the end of Graham right away.

Of course, just adding that information that hasn't been mentioned in most tweets about the suspension.

not that im defending his actions, but having a single DWI doesnt mean you have a drinking problem.
he might have one, i dno, but a DWI is more proof of poor judgment than alcoholism

I'm sure the Spurs knew about this before trading for him. Doubt this has any real impact on whether he'll stay or go

Overblown.
He didn't kill anyone. Apparently first time.
Clearly this was known to the spurs before the traded for him

Non-event. Spurs already knew about it and still traded for him. Spurs don’t jettison someone for making a mistake if they handle it the right way.

Are you under the illusion the Spurs didn't know about this when they acquired him last year and played him?

No, but considering the Spurs have to cut or move like 5 guys off their roster in the coming weeks, I think this could play a factor.
No one expects Graham to be a long-term piece. But this could result in him being a very short-term piece.

Come on, this was from last year before he was even on the Spurs. How would this be an issue? I am assuming the Spurs already knew about it before trading for him.

Especially since Pop has never drank and drove ever.
Jesus, I didn't realize I stirred up the bible belt here.
I'm not saying Graham is a terrible person because he made a bad decision.
I'm just sharing Spurs relevant news, and yes...his ass is already on the chopping block so I am sure this will be taken into consideration (DESPITE THE FACT THE SPURS ALREADY KNEW ABOUT THE ALLEGATIONS)

Graham’s contract is probably the most valuable of the “expiring” contracts because with the small amount of guaranteed money for next year it can be used as an expiring later this year or held and be very valuable next summer. The Spurs aren’t giving up that flexibility.
Plus I read where Graham is working his ass off and claims to be in the best shape of his life with an eye at competing for the starting PG. If he gave more effort on the defensive side of the ball he could be a much better fit than Trey in the starting line up.

What makes Graham's contract useful is that if he plays well, he's already signed for about the MLE for another year but if he plays poorly he's still basically an expiring. The partial guarantee doesn't really have the value it would have back in the day. I would say Devonte is comfortably the most talented of the player with ballast contracts on the roster now and the one who could most easily carve out an actual future with the club. I don't think this news affects the chances he's cut at all. That's basically zero unless he sucks it up in camp. DWI is a serious offense and one that should be looked at more harshly by society than it is, but it's very unlikely that the Spurs didn't know the full story before they traded for him in the first place. I'm sure after Primo, they checked out the background of any players they brought in.

We need to offload THREE players, not five. 2ways don't count against the 15 man roster limit.
Players that would be cut before Graham:
Birch
Bullock
Cedi
Payne
Mamu

Mamu > Graham TBH
Mamu makes like $2M this year, and a one year contract doesn't say a lot about your value to the team, going forward.
Graham's contract structure >>>>>> Mamu's

And Graham has more value in a vacuum and in theses days and age as a capable 3pt shooter. Not hating on Mamu who showed interesting things last year but not like he really was making a difference or he couldn't be replaced, specially with his suspect defense... Vic/Sochan/Zollins/Bassey should be the big rotation, Mamu getting whatever remaining minutes as 5th sting big, should he stay...Depends on how Pop really like the guy I guess. We'll see.

Birch and one of Bullock/Osman are the easy cuts imo. The Spurs have plenty of replacement level depth at forward with McDermott and Champagnie.
After that it gets more tricky, but Graham probably only has to beat out Payne to keep his spot. It would be quite damning if the Spurs keep Payne over Graham after being able to see what Graham can do at the end of last season.
