Man, it'd be nice to have a coach that actually gave a fuck. The old man knows he's absolutely untouchable and hasn't cared for about 5 years now.

Sochan pg experiment and all team youth experiment going to be frustrating at times but I guess this is what young Thunder team felt like, KD, Russ and Harden. In a few years battle tested, now maddening

Good game though for a young team, keeping it close and competitive. Just keep on cleaning those unforced errors and not getting rattled when the opponents making a run, and just keep trusting the system.

I'm in between, you want a coach that has the freedom to make the correct decisions and not the expedient ones to keep his job. It feels like the Spurs coaches and the FO think they have all the time in the world though, i don't want to wait 10 years for the Spurs to become relevant again.

Let's not go overboard. Dame is a 33-year old point guard that relies on quickness to be effective. He's owed $45 million this year, 48 million, the following year, and 58 million after that and then $63 million. He will cost you your best draft picks and a starter. So you will pay a PG that is 36 years old 63 million dollars and he won't be worth half of that. All so you can pair his last two declining, but usable years with a 19 year old that will not really start to hit his true potential until year 3. The Spurs made the right move to pass and Dame would not want to be here playing hard enough to elevate this team to an 8th seed and a first round sweep assuming they win their playin game.
The Spurs made the right move in trying to get CP3, who would have cost them nothing and is on an expiring deal, but he wanted to go to a contender and not the Spurs. If the Spurs were trying to make the playoffs, they would have kept Payne, who would have been a good PG to have on the team. When they let him go, it was clear that they are going to play the long, long game.

This team looks flat out stupid.
Constant terrible dribbling to a whack handoff back to the dribbler, awful passes out of bounds, guys not cutting, no one on the same page, blown inbounds repeatedly. Everyone getting in each other's way because no one is running the same set is what it feels like to watch this team.
And there doesn't seem to be any coaching up. Or coaching at all. The lineup and rotations have been pretty much the same through 10 games for one of the worst teams in the league. The only 'experimenting' seems to have been decided on in camp and that's it. No one even gets pulled for dumb mistakes. Branham seems to make 2-3 buffoonish plays a game where the popof 20 years ago would have blown up on him, now he just sits there remembering old french poetry and wine.
Now that Derrick White has been away from Pop long enough people finally see how good he is. There was a Philadelphia podcast last week lamenting that the Celtics "got Derrick White for nothing". And they're probably right. Blake Wesley, rollover contracts and seconds and a swap that will probably never go through really is getting nothing for Derrick White, who Pop spent an entire year limiting to 23 minutes a game off the bench because he couldn't ever play White and Murray together.

You don't understand. Pop had to start Bryn those 82 games and play him those many minutes because playing your two best guards at the same time just wasn't fair to the team.

Gotcha. I expected the Spurs to struggle to win 30 games. The Spurs have a ton of assets but shouldn’t spend them until they get the right player. It’s not that I’m for status quo beyond this year, but they have a year to get a low pick and look at what becomes available. I’m sure they are looking at PG but no one is trading a good one until mid season at the soonest. I still think the Spurs are fun to watch except when they are down 30.

The GOOD
- Confirmed Malaki has a pulse!
- Zach did great on both ends of the floor. Great touch and smart moves on O, stayed disciplined on D.
- Good bounce back games from Sochan and Keldon. They both took their time to make smart plays this game and it payed off.
The BAD
- Vassell had a rough night. 5/12 shooting. There were times when he was obviously the most talented player on the floor but instead of taking control he’s hiding in the corner like Bruce Bowen.
- Bassey played a great 6min and then never saw the floor again? Pop did I miss something?
The UGLY
- Victor’s worst game imo. Filled up some stats but just looked out of it, absent of passion. The SEVEN turnovers pop out but the lack of aggression (towards the paint) was the biggest frustration. He finally figured out by the 4th, but this game would’ve been an easy W if Victor ‘brought it’ the whole game.
- On that note, the entire team’s body language just looked off. I couldn’t tell if they had a mindset of playing all 4 quarters, or rather had settled into a lull of losing a game every 2 days. But overall I didn’t see ANY sort of semblance of “we are effing tired of losing.”
OVERALL a bad loss, compared to T-wolves good loss. Definitely some nice stretches, definitely lots of good learnings in real time + on tape. We did hurt without Tre. But the mood + body language is concerning. Will be interested to see how much fire they bring on the road in OKC.

At least you are being honest, some on this board treat Wemby like the new hot girl at school. Overlooking her flaws and always giving her the benefit of the doubt to the detriment of others. Why not let Wemby play pg, why not let Wemby take all the shots? While Wemby has great handles for a 7'3" guy he gets his pocket picked around smaller players and has a habit hanging on perimeter and chucking up threes. The kid will learn but the answer to every problem isn't more Wemby.

I don’t expect a lot out of the Spurs. I give credit to the Heat. The officials were inept and the Heat took advantage of that. They were constantly out of position and could not see the fouls. It looked like they went to the school of WWE or Washington Generals school of officiating. This is not going to be good for the league if this is how the season is going to play.out.

Dejounte played PG, Forbes played SG. Pop obviously wasn't going to play white and Dejounte together as we've seen in the season after where he said "it doesn't work". And during that season he also started Bryn Forbes. Matter of fact he's the only head coach in the NBA who played Bryn Forbes as a starter on the regular. You might have to get your memory checked

Pop too busy commenting on Tommy Tuberville to coach
Well it's probably because Pop is a US military veteran therefore entitled and because what Tuberville is doing jeopardizes the future of NBA basketball games which is our hobby here and something we all love and would hate to lose
as well as San Antonio Spurs Head Coach Gregg Popovitch's job which I'm sure he'd like to continue doing as he pleases.
Are you thinking in the time he replied about Tuberville Pop somehow could've been making game-winning adjustments instead? Just how long was this reply? And how does that duration used differently get 19 year old rookies 40+games of experience automatically?
Do you personally sleep most nights under United States airspace?
Apologies to the forum here expecting basketball discussion and indeed with all due respect to your opinion.
