So he can clean up all the Uyghur Muslims and get them to concentration camps.
Maybe while he is at it he can teach us his lessons on Tibet and the Lama.

Cities purposely rotting due to piss-poor policy only doing their duties to the taxpayers when a foreign visitor arriving isn't irksome to you?

The homelessness, border crisis and crime in America are effects of a weak spine. USA is fully capable of combating just like every other nation on this Planet but "leadership" chooses not to. Lack of initiative not resources.

If you want to get to the root of the hollowing out of the commons and the degradation of cities, you should focus on the trend of public disinvestment and tax cutting since the 1980s. We can't have nice things unless we invest in the public and maintain it.

Do you live near any of these cities? Have you had to explain to your 3 year old son why a homeless man is taking a shit in front of thousands of people on the Fisherman's wharf? Or why zombies are whipping their dicks out and pissing in front of everyone? Or had to tell a fellow bystander to look where they're stepping because there's shitloads of random, dirty needles littered across the ground?
Have you been to the dying shithole of Seattle recently?
I have. And I'm watching these cities burn in front of my eyes and this part of the country is too rich to allow this kind of shit to happen, period. $100 billion in surplus funds from over taxation and seeing absolutely NOTHING done about the problems the same people created isn't alarming to you?
They are rotting. Stats you cite can't change my mind. So many crimes the cops don't respond to out here don't make those reports, so I'd wager they're not as accurate as you'd like to believe.
I live in two states right now- splitting time in Texas and Cali but Cali all the way thru Oregon (we road trip a LOT up and down the coast) is a sad fucking travesty that has no real reason why its rotting other than failed Alt-Left policy from the corrupt law makers here. Texas is FUCKED, but it couldn't come close to the level of failure and theft the WC Dems are doing here.

We've been over taxed to the tune of a $100 billion surplus my state government is sitting on. And every proposal to help the struggling that, by and large, made that surplus a bragging right for the failure of a state government we have, has been shut down or the Dems here make their theft sooo brazen and obvious, they get busted before they can steal everything they originally intended to steal.
Water desalination plant? We can afford literally 50 of them, but NO. The Dems here are too interested in stealing the farmers' waters and waters from other sources that are far-strained.
California should NOT be suffering, in the least, with all of it's sources and infinite taxation, but their graft and grift is top notch. If Trump was a seasoned politician, he could learn a lot from the scumbaggery that makes up Cali politics.

I was there a month ago. It was fine. :lol
We stayed in West Seattle, but spent most of the time downtown near the market, 5th Ave, MOPOP, Asian dining, etc. My 7th time visiting in the past 20 years and I haven't noticed a significant amount of degradation in that time. If anything, it's better than 5-10 years ago since they finished construction on the bridge/tunnel. We took scooters, busses and ferries everywhere. Never felt threatened.
I think you're being a little dramatic. Every city has homeless, crazies, closed stores and graffiti. Just keep walking.

On a per-100K basis, that's about a 0.1% increase.

As someone who lives less than 10 miles from San Francisco, hearing conservatives talk about how the city is on fire and filled to the brim with crime is hilarious. Yes, the homeless situation isn't great and they need to do a lot more to address it, but the idea that they're dystopian wastelands no one wants to live in is pretty hilarious considering a 2BR apartment in the city rents for $4000. I've never had a single issue walking around the city, at night or otherwise, but maybe that's because I'm not a trigger happy sociopathic paranoid boomer?

LOL I almost got bit by a literal zombie on Highland Avenue in Los Angeles last time I visited in 2022. That shit was wild! Since 2019-2022 I could most definitely see how much worse West Hollywood has gotten with its vagabond junkies on the streets. It was very visible and totally different from a couple yrs prior. I have no idea about San Francisco but Los Angeles has definitely changed but still not as bad as the internet would have you believe.

Best state I lived on so far, by a long mile. Not much different from New York when it comes to big city problems, and obviously far from perfect, but there's tons to like.
Great food, weather, women, big economy, high paying jobs, lots of nice cities to visit at a short distance, chill people with chill attitudes. To be fair, not many states can compete with that.

Video. Cell phones recording & uploading. Also reason why crime took a dip.
Historically crime in the West is centralized towards poverty. When it starts affecting everyday people is when outrage ensues.
IMO post Covid we have witnessed crime spilling over into working class & vacation spots. Targeting tourist really pisses people off when their business is reliant on tourism. And in America when you fk with business money, it makes noise.
