But we aren't disagreeing on tactics. I'm talking about why the term exists. The term exists because of respectability politics, not simply because of white supremacy. Basically it comes from the view that racism is something a person can justify with behavior, and that's not true. A lot of us when we were younger thought that made sense in large part because folks like Chris Rock and Bill Cosby told us it did. Talking about that is actually answering the question posed in this thread. Saying "you'll get beat up" doesn't, because most of these folks act completely differently IRL and know not to just randomly insult people (with slurs or otherwise).
