View Full Version : We need to accept that we suck

We suck.
I'm not convinced another coach could do better with this squad. This is a talent issue, not a coaching issue. Outside of Wemby and Vassel, we just flat out suck. We need better players and until that happens, we're gonna be eating shit for a while. Literally the only difference between this year and last year is Wemby. Y'all have unreasonable expectations for what is possible, even if it is a generational talent.
Did y'all really think that the youngest team in the league was somehow gonna put it all together this season? They clearly don't know how to close out games. There are clearly players that are too one-dimensional to play consistently.
I'm sorry, but this should have been the expected outcome from day one when the roster was constructed. That's the reason why Barkley kept saying that Wemby better get used to losing a lot this season. We are tanking again this year and y'all better learn to accept that, or you will die of an aneurysm or stroke.

Nothing is going to change until these kids realize defense is as important as offense.

blow it all up....Trade kj and vassell as well since now they have some value....Its just a matter of time before they
ask for trades if we keep losing and they become unhappy

Coping hard. Lots of coaching issues. Don’t play the 7’5 getting 8 blocks on the perimeter defensively every game. Don’t throw the no skill trash player at PG when he’s never played it and has 0 offensive ability. At least he could have tried KJ at guard since he has an actual NBA skill in being able to get to the paint and collapse a defense. He could fix his terrible rotations and lineups. He could try implementing some basic plays besides wait and see what we have.

We do. I accept it finally. We’ll have a few decent picks this sunmer. We need a pg and a defensive center. Collins is uselesss when hes not putting up 20 points a game to offset getting manhandled by ur average sissy center

Yes, this roster sucks. However, even a good team cannot win without a point guard. The coaching has been really bad on top of a terrible roster
The Grizzlies lineup last night was worse than the Spurs. San Antonio still lost.

Now imagine if the Spurs lost the Wemby sweepstakes and the had Scoot, Miller, or a Thompson twin.

We need to accept, that POP has put this team in a position to lose by running Socham at point guard.
You change just that one issue and we have a much better record.
- PG - Jones
- SG - Vassel
- SF - Socham
- PFC - Collins
- PFC - Wemby
That is a good starting lineup. Everyone is in the position they SHOULD be in.
The Spurs don't suck. Their coach does. If he's running Socham at point to tank the season and get a lottery pick, he's on track. If he's doing it because he legitimately thinks that is the best move...he needs to retire.
He's making good players, look bad...and marginal players look horrible. That's a bad coach no matter what his reasoning.
We need to accept, that POP has put this team in a position to lose by running Socham at point guard. . . .
What if Pop is trying to develop Sochan's versatility and skills until he takes on his true position rather than grooming him to be a long-term future point guard?
Maybe he's keeping his eye on player development and the future

My only reply is that Houston looked equally as hopeless at the end of last season and now they look like FOR NOW AT LEAST, that they have arrived as a probable playoff team.
Their defensive effort is night and day.
Which is precisely why I started the thread Our D the other day. If anything, we are worse this year. And downright abominable if you consider our play without Wemby on the floor.
I think Pop stopped being feared. And I think our talent simply isn't sufficient to be a whole lot better than we have shown unless those guys fear being cut day in and day out.

The Rockets made moves in FA to improve their roster and to support their young players.
Those moves were widely mocked here, but they are paying off.
Meanwhile we are “seeing what we have,” and it turns out we don’t have much..
If Flagg or Boozer was available in this next draft I’d be ok w our current approach, but they are not.
We have to be willing to improve the roster through trades and FA signings.
We can’t keep drafting our way out of this, even if we grab the maximum FRPs in the next few drafts.
Wemby won’t wait that long

Definitely. But there's still no excuse for not putting them in the best position to at least function offensively so they can be half way competitive.

The youngest team in the NBA which translates to inexperienced, and a 19 yr old rookie who is not yet NBA strong and is outboxed occasionally. A lot of these would improve especially on the defensive end. Offensively they can score, and that too will improve. Spurs fans just need to be patient and trust the process. Pop as someone who is not pressured by meaningless wins is the perfect coach. Anybody else would be pressured by the Wemby circus and try to win now, despite the need for overall development. Slowly but surely.

We need a PG and Pop needs to create an offensive system around Wemby instead of leaving him to put up whatever shot he gets
We suck compared to contenders, but not as bad as our record suggests. You don’t blow leads unless you create them first … this whole giving up the season already shit is seriously sketch. If we aren’t even close to the play in then some heads need to roll, straight up.

Like it or not, the front office probably has the Thunder in mind moving forward and know that they can't compete as is. OKC has better, more talented young players with better assets and a better front office who are on the same timeline as Wemby. Even at their prime the gap between Wemby and Chet is probably not greater than SGA and the rest of the Thunder core. You can make the argument that teams like the Nuggets, Bucks, even Celtics will be too old by the time Wemby hits his prime but OKC stands as an insurmountable roadblock moving forward for Wemby's entire career. They know they have to get more talent as San Antonio isn't exactly a free agent destination.
Lebron left Cleveland because he could never get past Boston, and Cleveland's biggest mistake post Lebron was drafting Luke Jackson in the first round after his first season while they still had a high draft pick. Second biggest mistake was the Boozer debacle. Team sucks badly this year, but we still need more talent to compete and unfortunately sucking is probably the best way to acquire that talent.
